P3 – Farmer Visitor

Primary 3 enjoyed a fantastic class visit from Mr Sloan, a local farmer.  He came to us to help us to learn more about life on the farm.  Mr Sloan is a dairy farmer.  He brought models of his equipment for us to see, bags of animal feed and pictures of his cows.  We enjoyed listening to all his funny stories about his work on the farm!  Mr Sloan answered all our questions about farming so now we know even more about why farming in Scotland is so important.

SLC 1 Magic Carpet

We have really enjoyed exploring the new technology ‘Magic Carpet’.  We have really found the sensory experiences of walking in the water, exploring the fish and kicking the leaves very calming and enjoyable.  We have also started to use this to find out sounds and read our tricky words.  SLC 1 are excited for trying to use Magic Carpet for other areas of our learning.

SLC2 – No Pens Wednesday!

SLC2 had lots of fun on No Pens Wednesday! In the morning for maths the class was learning about 3D shapes. They used the iPad to drive the BB-8 robot to the different 3D shapes. BB-8 could even nod and beep to let them know that they got the correct shape!

SLC2 have been learning all about the colours in their Spanish lessons. Today they were using Linguascope to practice matching the colours from Spanish to English, and using the playdough to practice how to spell the Spanish colours.

P3 – Visit To Tesco

As part of our farming topic, we have been finding out about the journey of food from source to consumer.  To help us, we visited Tesco today as part of their Farm to Fork programme.  We got to visit the bakery and taste the bread, identify the countries that fruit and veg came from and taste a fruit salad.  Our favourite part though, was when we went into the freezer!!  It was soooo cold!!  We had a great time and learned lots about the journey of food.  Here are some pictures of our morning.

P6 – HWB Healthy Teeth Experiment – 1 week on!

We have now left our teeth in Diet Coke and Coca-Cola for one week now. As you can see the tooth that was in the Coca-Cola is nearly fully black and rotten. The tooth that was in the Diet Coke is badly damaged and a dark grey colour. Our experiment is showing that BOTH type of juice are bad for our teeth – I think we will be sticking to water from now on and keeping juice as a treat every now and again!

We will update you again in another week!
