On Thursday 3rd May, SLC 3 went to Dumfries House as part of our topic on vertebrates and invertebrates. We got to explore the estate and searched for different leaves and trees.
We walked through the estate to the ponds and we were taught how to carry out pond dipping safely. We were able to find lots of different creatures including pond skaters and water snails. It was very interesting.
The start of the summer has seen our Barshare Bolterz club get up and running (!) and so far it has been a great success.
The pupils have been focusing on developing their fitness and their running form and this week were able to practice sprinting in the sunshine. All the boys and girls have put in a fantastic effort over the last couple of weeks.
SLC 1 recently enjoyed a visit to Dumfries House. We explored a variety of vegetables that had been grown in their garden and had to guess what they were. Everyone had the chance to plant potatoes in the garden using tools and we went a walk around the grounds looking for signs of Spring. We all had a super time.
Primary 5 have been learning about ‘Plants’ as part of our topic. We went a trip to Dumfries House to learn more about plants! 
Our class visited the Cook School in Kilmarnock. We followed instructions from the head chef Stuart to make scones. It was a messy job but we all had fun. Miss Robertson’s favourite part was when we got to taste our baking with jam, cream and berries.
