SLC 3 Home Tasks Week Beginning 30/3/20

Hope you all enjoyed your weekend as best as you could.  Remember to keep working through your packs, one worksheet a day is more than enough for Literacy and Numeracy.  This could then be supplemented with online resources such as Bug Club, Sumdog and Nessy.  I have added a table  below with some additional challenges for you to try this week.

Tasks for Week Beginning 30 / 3 / 20
Literacy Numeracy / Maths All my other learning
Make a list of 5 ‘sh’ words.

You can use paint, chalk, shaving foam, pens, pencils, stampers, cut letters out of a newspaper / magazine, etc

Practise skip counting in 2s.

Anytime you climb the stairs count up in 2s.  Hop / jump whilst counting in 2s.  Youtube videos of counting in 2s.

We have been asked to stay at home as much as we can.  Design your dream bedroom.

You can draw a picture and label it, you can use lego to build it or use junk materials to create a model.

Keep a daily journal of this week.

Write a short paragraph for each day.  Try to use all of the punctuation you have learned, including speech marks and exclamation marks.  Make your sentences longer using ‘and’ or ‘but’.  For example,

Today is Sunday 30th March.  It is cloudy with sunny spells and a little windy.  I cleaned the windows and it was hard work! I said “These windows look much nicer but I am needing a break.”

2 times table bingo

Write down 6 numbers that appear in the 2 times table.

(0, 2, 4, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18, 20)

Ask someone at home to say aloud a sum, for example 2 times 3.

If you have the answer cross it out.  Can you clear all of your numbers?

Aim for 60 minutes activity a day!

To help you with this tune in to Joe Wicks’ PE lessons live on Youtube.

Make up a dance or create your own fitness routine.  Copy dance routines from Youtube videos.

Get out in the garden and practise some sports.

Number talks : 62

Jot down ways to make 62.  You can use adding sums and take away sums.  You can draw a picture of tens and units.

SLC Miss Robertson’s Literacy Group

Well done to those of you who are managing to log on to Bug Club and reading through your books.  Keep it up!

I have also transferred your accounts on ‘Teach Your Monster To Read’ for online access from home.  If using a laptop or computer the web address is  http://www.teachyourmonstertoread.com/u/4991787 and type in your name.  The game should start.

This is also available as an app to use on your tablet, phone or Ipad.  It should cost £4.99 but it was free for a limited period during school closures.

If accessing through the app, your username is your own name and there is no need to enter a password.  You will need our star code to access our class though which is 4991787.

Happy reading,

Miss Robertson.

SLC3 explore Electricity at Christmas

On Wednesday 11th December SLC3 visited Dumfries House to explore electricity. We used a battery, switch and wires to make different circuits. We were then able to use this knowledge to create a Christmas decoration that lights up! On the computer we used a coding program to make our bulb light up. Some of us could make it change colour.  At lunchtime we went outside to play.
