P2/3 Home Learning 4/5/20

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all well and managing to get outside and enjoy the sunshine.  Some of our learning happens outside when we are working with our families.  If you have a garden you could help look after it with a family member.  Weeding is a big job in your garden so you could help with this.  Maybe there is a part in the garden you could look after.  If you were able to plant seeds in pots remember to water them regularly and watch them grow.

Here are your activities for this week for home learning.  Remember just to do what you can, these are only suggestions.

Take care everyone and stay safe.  I will be in touch again next Monday.

Mrs McLachlan

P2 and P3 – Look at your Active Literacy sounds sheet and practise the new words for the ‘ow’ sound.  Practise writing the words for that sound on your laminated Elkonin Boxes in your pack and try to make some new words of your own.  Write 3 sentences using one of your words in each sentence.

Bug Club – Reading

Log on to Bug Club and read 2 of your books.  Well done to everyone who has been reading their books.  Remember you can practise your reading by reading any books you have at home as well.

Writing

This week you are writing about Spring pictures.  Open the link below and look at the pictures.  Write sentences about what you can see, the words in the box will help you with ideas for your writing.  You could also try and use some adjectives in your writing.  What colour are the flowers?  Remember your capital letters and full stops.  If you don’t have a printer write some sentences about Spring that you see on your daily walk.  You can draw a picture about what you see if you want.

Numeracy

Use Topmarks Site to play Hit the Button, this week you could practise your Number Bonds by adding three numbers.  If you want a Challenge then click on adding to 100 and play this game.  See how well you do.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Continue logging on to Sum Dog and playing the games.

I have put a link for you to print a Missing Number Addition sheet.  Write the missing numbers.  See if you can make up some sums of your own with a missing number and ask someone in your house to complete it.

https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-n-5965-missing-number-addition-within-20-activity-sheet

Continue to practise writing the 2, 5 and 10 times tables.  Challenge yourself with the 3 and 4 if you want.

Stem – If you planted seeds in a plant pot last week at home you could complete this sequencing activity.  I have attached the link below.  Even if you didn’t have the opportunity to plant seeds you could see how well you do with the sequencing of this.

https://www.twinkl.co.uk/resource/t-t-10560-plant-growth-sequencing-activity

Art – When you are outside your daily walk gather some twigs, branches, leaves, pebbles and other natural materials to make a picture of a life sized you.  You could also try making animals out of the materials.

Health and Wellbeing – Click on the link below to go on a Cosmic Yoga Adventure.  It is called Popcorn and the Pirates.  Have fun everyone.

P2/3 Home Learning 27/4/20

Hello everyone,

Hope you are all staying safe and well and are getting outside to enjoy this lovely weather we are having.  I am missing you all but I am sure you are all enjoying your time with your family.

I am keeping in touch with you to give you your home learning activities for this week.  Try some if you can but remember to go outside to play as well if you have a garden.  A daily walk with your family is another way of learning and I have an activity for you this week to complete on your walk.

Take care everyone and stay safe.  I will be in touch again next Monday.

Literacy

P2 and P3 – Look at your Active Literacy sounds sheet and practise the new words for the ‘ew’ sound.  Practise writing the words for that sound in your laminated Elkonin Boxes in your pack and try to make some new words of your own.  Write 3 sentences using one of your words in each sentence.

Bug Club – Reading

Log in to Bug Club and read 2 of your books.  Another reading activity for this week is to see if you can find any ‘ew’ words in your reading book or choose a book you might have at home and see if you can find any ‘ew’ words and list them.

Writing

We have been learning about ‘adjectives’ in class and for your writing this week I would like you to try  ‘Describe the Monster’ activity.  I have attached the link below for this sheet and you have a word bank of adjectives you can use in your writing to describe the picture of the monster.  Remember to write in sentences using capital letters and full stops.  If you can’t print the sheet you could make up your own adjectives to describe a monster but remember to write in sentences.

Numeracy

Use Topmarks, Hit the Button link below to practise doubles.  Start with the lower ones then see how high you can go.  P3’s could try the division section to keep practising this at home.  We have done this in class.

https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Keep using laminated boards to try addition and subtraction calculations at home, ask a family member to make some sums for you.  Remember you can use a number line to help you if you need to.

We are going to be learning about Data Handling so as part of this you can complete a Spring Themed Tally Chart.  Open the link below to access this and print it.

When you are out a daily walk with an adult you could go on a plants and flowers hunt.   I have attached  the sheet below and you could tick all the plants and flowers that you see on your walk.  This could be done over the week because you might go different walks and see different plants and flowers.  If you don’t have a printer you could make your own list of different flowers or plants you see when out your walk.  An adult might help you with the names of these.  You might even have some in your garden.

P2/3 Home Learning 20/4/20

Hi everyone,

Hope you all had a lovely Easter holiday and managed to get outside some of the time to enjoy the sunshine.  I know some of you will have enjoyed going long walks with your family and if you are lucky to have a garden managed to get out to play.

I am just keeping in touch with you all and hope you are all well.  I will post new home learning activities every Monday for you to do if you can.  Here are some activities you could try this week to help with your learning.  You can still use some of the work in your packs as well.

Stay safe everyone.

Mrs McLachlan

Literacy

P2 and P3 Look at your Active Literacy sounds sheet in your pack and practise the new words for the ‘au’ sound.  Practise writing the words for that sound in your laminated Elkonin Boxes in your pack and write sentences using some of these words.  You could also try and make up words of your own with the sound.

Bug Club – Log on to Bug Club and read 2 of your books.

Writing

Write a Book Review using the style I have attached below about one of your reading books or if you don’t have access to a printer write a short personal story about what you did over the Easter holidays.  Remember you can draw pictures about your writing.

T-L-1069-Book-Review-Writing-Frame

Numeracy

P2 and P3 – Practise writing out your 2, 5 and 10 times tables and if you feel confident enough your 3 and 4 times tables.

Practise adding and subtracting using your laminated boards either using dice to make up sums or ask a family member to make sums for you to try.

Log on to Topmarks if you can and practise your times tables and number bonds playing Hit the Button Game.  Here is the link:- https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button

Our new topic is all about Plants.  If you can ask an adult to help you and if you have the resources available I thought you could plant seeds in a pot and watch them grow while you are at home.  You will need:-  seeds (sunflower, cress, beans or any you can get), soil, plant pot and water.

or if you don’t have the resources you could

Try making a toy parachute either on your own or with an adult.  You could find resources around the house for this i.e. plastic carrier bag or bin liner, thread, wool or string and a heavy object for the bottom.  This could be a thread reel, a toy soldier or anything with weight.  Plasticine could also be used.  If you don’t have the resources this is fine.  Once you have made your parachute try flying it outside.

Music

Mrs Hill has prepared some music activities for you.  Just follow the link below.

P2/3 Home Learning

Hi everyone,

Hope you are all well and enjoying your time at home.  I just thought I would check-in with everyone to wish you a Happy Easter Holiday.  Enjoy the time with your families and I hope you all manage to get outdoors for some part of the day.  Remember you can always make Easter eggs from hard boiled eggs and decorate them but an adult needs to help you with this.  I thought I would suggest some fun activities to do if you want over the Easter holiday.

You could make an Easter card for someone in your family.

I found a lovely idea for some games you could play outside if you have a garden.  One is the Egg Hop Relay Race and the other one is the Easter Egg Lawn Bowling game where you use hard boiled eggs or if you don’t have eggs you could use coloured balls.  Here is the link for games.https://www.beau-coup.com/party-planning/8-fun-creative-easter-games.htm

Another idea I found is Aquatic Animals Yoga Poses.  This is a lovely idea about animals under the sea.

If you want to have fun singing and dancing try the Cosmic Kids Yoga Disco/ Washing Machine Song.

Take care everyone.
