Our Weekly School News

Well done to the class Pupil of the Month who were presented with their certificates at our Easter Assembly.

P6 class also sang their winning songs from the recent Galloway Music Festival and received their Certificate of Distinction.

School Uniform

A letter will have been sent home with your eldest child via pupil post regarding School Uniform for next session. If you wish to place an order, complete and return the order form and return by Wednesday 9th May.  You will receive your order before the school breaks up for the summer holiday. If anyone wishes to apply for Free School Meals and a Clothing Grant then these forms will be available to collect from the school office. If this is the case then please go ahead and place your uniform order but mark in the ‘amount paid section’ that you are awaiting a grant. This means that your order will be processed and held in school until you receive your payment.

A sample of the school clothing will be available for you to view in the entrance hall at the main door of the school after the Easter holidays.

School Meals

Please note that the cost of a school meal will be increasing to £1.85 from the start of the new term.

Some Class News

Primary 1

We enjoyed sharing our bear den homework projects – well done to all those children who made them.

The children really enjoyed this project – thank you for all the support from the parents.

“If you go down in the hall today you’re sure of a big surprise.” On Wednesday our teddy bears and toys came to school and we had a picnic. We spent the morning making food.

“We had ham sandwiches.” – Abbie

“Cheese sandwiches.” – Miya-Lilly

“Fruit kebabs” – Cara

“Don’t forget the biscuits.” -Evie

We shared the food with our bears/toys and played musical statues. We then all had a go at teddy bear rolls – it was so much fun!

We have loved having our bears and toys in school.

Nell is our Pupil of the Month – congratulations Nell!

Primary 1/2

We are really looking forward to the holidays. Well done to those who brought in decorated eggs- they looked BRILLIANT!! A big THANK YOU to all the parents who came in to share stories for Easter storytime. What a lovely way to spend an afternoon! Have a nice holiday everyone!

Primary 3

This week P3 have been working on patterns in maths. We have been trying hard to complete different patterns and have even had a go at making our own patterns! We are still thinking about birds and other wildlife in our local community and we identified that to keep the animals safe we need to have a clean and tidy playground. We went outside into our playground and nature garden for a litter pick. Everyone worked really hard! We made bar charts to display our findings. Then we made a poster to encourage others to pick up their litter and look after the local community.

Primary 3/4

On Friday 23rd P3/4 went to Kirkcudbright Library to perform for Julia Donaldson.

Katie said “She loved it when Julia Donaldson was funny.”

Alannah said she thought everyone did great and Lhlyaijana thought it was outstanding.

Shea said he was nervous at the start.

This week we performed the show to the school and families.

We also performed a presentation of our skills learned in gymnastics to different classes.

Have a lovely holiday from P3/4.

Primary 4

To end our exciting Viking topic, P4 had a Viking afternoon of craft, storytelling and food sampling. The children dressed as Vikings and had a fantastic time celebrating their learning. “I enjoyed making my Viking costume from things I found around the house” Ellie-Jay. “It was so fun building longboats, we came up with the design all by ourselves” Eilidh. “I’ve never tasted Viking foods before so I was looking forward to it” Olivia.

Congratulations to our P4 talent show finalists. Milly has put lots of practice into playing her chanter and Skye, Ruby, Reece and Erin have all been rehearsing their gymnastics routine.

Milly designed an amazing Scottish themed egg for the egg decorating competition, taking first place. Niamh constructed a super longboat to transport her Viking sailor eggs. She came second. Well done to all the P4’s who came up with creative entries.

Milly came 3rd place in a chanter competition, winning an amazing medal. Yvie and Anna had a great time taking part in a swimming competition in Stranraer. Douglas moved up a grade Taekwondo to blue belt. Finlay moved up to yellow. Congratulations!

Primary 4/5

This week in PE, P4/5 have been working together in small groups to create and perform gymnastic displays to P3 and P6.
