Class News

Primary 1

We had a wonderful trip to the Doach Woods – it was a beautiful day, we weren’t scared! We were hunting for bears. A bear had dropped his porridge oats and we followed the oats around the woods.  The bear may have been hiding as we didn’t see him.  There was lots of imaginative talk as we explored the woods.
Mrs Cunningham thought the bears might be at the beach as it was so sunny.

Mr Tyson built a fire and we toasted marshmallows – delicious.

Fern – “I liked the marshmallows.”

We have written invitations to our teddy bears inviting them for a picnic on Wednesday 28th March.  We walked to the post box to post our invitations and on the way back we went to the park.

Lily – “this is a really fun day.”

We have enjoyed playing our class board games this week : snakes and ladders and splat and spell.

Primary 3

We were very excited when we got to school on Monday because we noticed there were two unusual birds in our school playground that a lot of us hadn’t seen before. They were even coming and knocking on our classroom door with their beaks! We did some research and discovered they were oyster catchers. As we have been thinking a lot about birds and during outdoor learning we decided to go outside to watch and draw the birds.

“We had to be really quiet and still so we wouldn’t scare them away when we went outside” – Kelvin

“The oyster catchers had red eyes and long orange beaks” – Fraser

“It was a bit tricky trying to draw them as they kept moving!”

In maths we have still been working on multiplication. We have been playing lots of times tables games to help us practice.

“I’ve found times tables much easier the more I practice” – Freya

“At the beginning of times tables it was hard but now I’ve got into it I understand it more” – Kelvin

“The game ‘around the world’ is really fun! It helps me practice my times tables.”
We also had a visit from Angela. Angela works in Tesco and she told us all about different healthy foods and how we can keep ourselves healthy. We even got to try lots of different fruits!

“I tried mango for the first time and really liked it!” – Becky

“I tried passionfruit. I didn’t like it much!” – Fraser

“Passionfruit tasted really sweet. I liked it” – Sam

“Angela told us all about the different food groups” – Holly

In topic we had a look at different farming machinery and we compared the machinery that farmers had to use in the past to what they use now.
