This week’s school news –
a) Staffing News
We will be saying goodbye to two of our teaching staff at the end of next week. Miss Dooley (P4/5) has been promoted to Principal Teacher at Springholm Primary and Miss Menzies (P1) is moving to Heathfield Primary in Ayr. Both teachers have been very committed to the school and to the children in their classes over the years. We will be sorry to say goodbye next Friday and our best wishes go to both staff as they take their next steps in their teaching careers.
We have welcomed Mrs Findlay back from maternity leave and Miss McQuarrie and Mr MacIsaac will also be joining our teaching team until the end of Session.
b) School Validation Self-Evaluation
The Nursery and School have an ongoing Self-Evaluation programme where we review how good is our Learning and Teaching and Pupil attainment and achievement. Next Tuesday and Wednesday the Nursery and School will be welcoming a group of visitors (3 Headteachers, Education Officer, Nursery and Support for Learning staff) who will be visiting classes and meeting pupils, parents and staff to review how well the school is doing. The review will then be used by the school to validate our own self- evaluation.

c) Homework and Vision, Values and Aims Surveys.
Thank you very much to everyone who responded to our recent surveys. There were 70 responses which is very much appreciated and is a huge help in helping the school and nursery to plan our next steps. A summary of both surveys will be shared before the end of term after the next Parent Council meeting.
d) Big well done to our P1-7 class winners who shared their Scots Verse and Art work at a Scots Achievement Assembly this morning. Thank you to all our pupils for learning Scots poems and creating super art work over the past few weeks.

27th February – School Photographer P1-7 – individuals and family groups.
28th February – P1/2 Edinburgh Science Festival Workshop and P5-7 Cross Country Festival.
1st March – P1-7 Dental Inspections and Rag Bag Collection Day.
1st March – Sponsored 20 Activity Day. This is our main fund raiser for school funds to support class activities such as subsidising class visits. More information to follow.
