iCoffee Afternoon 2

This Monday at 13.30 until 14.30 we are holding our second iCoffee Afternoon for any members of the community interested in getting help or learning more about technology. The focus will be an introduction to the internet and also email. Looking forward to seeing everyone on Monday afternoon.

Garageband Performance

On Friday at 14.15, we’re opening our doors to parents and interested parties to hear the results of our 6 week Garageband Project.

P5-7 guided by Mr Thomson and maybe even Mr Archibald, will put on a show using the iPad app Garageband.

For a bit of a preview, check these out.

A New Session

A quick post to welcome all new comers to Brydekirk Primary and also welcome back to all P1-6s from last session.

It’s going to be a busy term again with lots of activities in the pipeline; where we hope to share as much as possible on this blog.

To get us started here are some pieces of writing from P5-7 about the best thing that they each did during the summer break. Any constructive feedback would be welcomed on the work.

Wishing you all a good year,

Mrs Turnbull and Mr Archibald

The Boy and the Bunnet by Fergus and Mark

Here is the first example of a Scots story that we have been learning in class called the The Boy and the Bunnet.

We’ve learned the story, worked on some of the Scots and drawn and painted, using water colours and ink, the characters and settings. The art work was then scanned and we made digital layered collages  to make scenes for a story board, which we use when telling the story. Below is a telling of the story by Fergus and Mark, with the mentioned art work as illustrations. We have also had a go at Garage Band to make a backing track. The next step is to write the story in a similar way as explained in Pie Corbett’s excellent Storytelling into Writing . We’ll then use the iPads again to publish our stories as illustrated books or comic strips.

Link to video below if it doesn’t appear is here.
