Join live on Thursday 10th November at 10.30am from the Imperial War Museum to find out more about the Battle of the Somme which took place 100 years ago.
This year is the 100th anniversary of the Battle of the Somme- one of bloodiest conflicts of the First World War and subject of the world’s first full-length war documentary, filmed in 1916. In the first three months of its release the film was seen by around 20 million people in Britain and Ireland, informing and challenging the public with its images of warfare and changing the way both cinema and film was perceived.
In the Glow TV event we will we shall be showing excerpts from this iconic film, accompanied by an 8 minute background piece produced by Dr Toby Haggith from the Imperial War Museum, followed by a live Q&A session with Dr Haggith. This will help pupils prepare for Letters Home, this year’s competition run by Poppyscotland, which asks pupils to write a letter home as if from the trenches of The Somme.

I have finally got round to creating a guide for the above task.
This will make things easier to share in Glow with just a class rather than individually or by year group.
Please log into Glow and then click the link below.

Please be aware we have noted an issue that when learners select the Aberdeenshire E-Portfolio tile in Glow that if a profile had not been created an error message is displayed.
RM are investigating this issue
If a learner had previously created an E-Portfolio this can be found in the Notebooks folder of the Learners OneDrive
Our Watch Again page has had a makeover. Its never been so easy to find videos. Click here to see what you have missed!
Twig Assignments are now available to Glow users through TwigonGlow. This feature allows teachers to set Twig films as homework and track results while testing students on what they’ve learned
Teachers can also track their students’ week-to-week progress and see exactly where each student would benefit from some more assistance.
The feature can be accessed through the MyTwig panel for both teachers and students: https://www.twigonglow.com/my-twig/
TWIG have released a tutorial for assignments that can be found here: https://www.twig-world.com/assignments/
TWIG also have a general system requirements information page for the whole site which can be found here: https://www.twigonglow.com/support/system-requirements/
The framework is now available as a OneNote file in Glow. Only Aberdeenshire teaching staff have access and the link can be found here ( http://tinyurl.com/z2hs5gt ) you will need your GLOW username and password to access the resource.
TwigPlayer is here, and the Learning through Technology team have logged a call to have the software installed onto teachers computers, however if you use Twig or Tigtag at home you could download the software (link is below) and keep videos to watch offline at home..no more buffering!
Twig World has just released the TwigPlayer, an application uniquely designed for Scottish users of the science, maths and geography resources available from the Twig On Glow, Tigtag and Tigtag Junior websites.
The player allows users to download and play films offline without being connected to the internet.
Everyone can now log into the Twig website of their choice using their Glow credentials, select and download films onto the desktop of the computer they are using and then play them back directly. The films will remain available locally as long as the computer has connected to the internet (via Wi-Fi or ethernet) at least once within 30 days. If a computer has not connected to the internet for over 30 days (e.g. over the school summer holidays), the films will disappear and will need to be downloaded again from the relevant website.
To download films users must first install the TwigPlayer software application for Windows machines. This is a very simple and quick process, but it requires admin access for the machine that is being used. It may therefore be preferable for the school IT Coordinator or the local authority IT department to install the software via the IT network. Users at home can of course install the software onto as many of their own devices as desired.
Please find below a link to the webpage containing further information about the TwigPlayer (Windows only). The same information appears on the Tigtag and Tigtag Junior sites for users who log in with Glow credentials.
