School Improvement Plan (SIP) and Standards & Quality Report (S&Q)
Each year, every Scottish school publishes a School Improvement Plan (SIP) and a Standards and Quality Report (S&Q) to share progress and next steps.
Our School Improvement Plan outlines the key priorities we are focusing on this session to improve learning, teaching and wellbeing across the school. It is based on self-evaluation, pupil voice, assessment data and feedback from parents and partners, and helps us plan how to make the biggest difference for our learners.

At Port Ellen, we use the PACE model — Pedagogy, Attainment, Curriculum and Ethos — to structure our improvement work. This helps us ensure that every development we plan strengthens high-quality teaching, raises attainment, builds a broad and relevant curriculum, and supports a positive, inclusive school culture.
Here is our parent summary.
These are our child friendly targets for this session.

Our Standards and Quality Report looks back at the previous year to celebrate our achievements and evaluate what has gone well. It highlights the impact of our work on children’s progress, attainment and wider achievements, as well as identifying next steps for continued improvement.
Together, these documents show how we are continually working to provide the best possible education for every child at Port Ellen Primary.

School Policies
At Port Ellen Primary School, our policies reflect our shared values, aims, and commitment to providing the best possible learning experiences for all children. They guide the day-to-day life of our school and ensure consistency, fairness, and high standards across all areas of learning and teaching.
Below you will find links to our key school and local authority policies. These documents explain how we work together to create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can achieve success.
All policies are reviewed regularly in line with Argyll and Bute Council guidance and Scottish Government legislation. Parents and carers are always welcome to request a paper copy from the school office or to discuss any of our policies in more detail.
