P3-7 Art Club

P 6/7 class have been doing clubs and me, katyn and Kayla have been doing an art club for primary 3-7.  The kids were very happy and got along with each other.  We also helped the nursery make snowflakes.  We also drew a little observational drawing of the Christmas decorations in the hall.  We had 6 children come to our club they made a lot of pictures and they are asking and asking if we can do the club again they said that they enjoyed the club and they would come again.  If the club was on they said they would want to make snowman out of paper.   I said that would be fine and show them how to do them.

On the last day we showed all the club our drawings and we were seeing if   they improved on their skills; we did, shading, observational and imaginative they had smiles on there faces and they were calm and relaxed.  I enjoyed teaching them skills and being around them it was a very calming and relaxing time.  When it was time to pack away they did exactly what they were told.  We did a cool down and a warm up.  Our warm up was we had to shake our hands about and we had to wiggle out fingers. Our cool down was laying on the floor and relaxing our hands, arms and fingers.

AFRIS

Today our school had a visit from AFRIS, Astronomy for Rural and Island Schools.  We got to learn all about space, constellations, light, robotic telescopes and space exploration which was really interesting.

P123 learned about night and day.  P456 learned about the stars adn we learned about Light.  The fun part was when Alexander had to hide behind a container of cola and then the man from AFRIS used a special infra red camera to show that you could see Alexander through tht ecoke on the camera when you could not in real life.

Chris also showed use some beads that reacted to ultra-violet light from the sun. If they change colour it means you need sun cream.

I felt amazed beacuse it was fantastic and it was magic.  After school their was another meeting and parents came in and did you know JK Rowling got Harry Potter names from constellations.  Thanks AFRIS!

Evie’s Chanter

On Monday’s  I go to chanter and when I go I feel very happy because it is ran by my uncle. He is teaching me  Baby Shark  and the White Swan and Jingle Bells to play for Christmas.

When I first got my chanter It  was very  shocked I was very happy because I’ve wanted to play the bagpipes.

When I blow in to the chanter It makes me feel very dizzy.  I almost bashed in to the table.  Learning the chanter is very interesting and you need to blow not to hard  and not to soft just right and you have to cover all the holes so that you can play the scale the scale is low g, low a ,b, c, d, e, f, high a and high g.

To play a tune you need to learn all the excises you have exercise 7, exercise 8, exercise 9 and exercise 10.  You need to learn all of then and then you can play  Baby Shark and other songs.

I cant wait till Christmas so that I can play Jingle Bells in front  of my family.

MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!.

The brillant world of Tom Gates by Liz Pichon

I am reading the Brillant World of Tom Gates. It is about a boy who goes to school and calls some  people idiots  and is cheeky.  In the book the main character is Tom Gates.  He has friends called Amy and Derik and Mealdrew who Tom Gates calles an idiot.  Tom Gates is very mean and can get distraced in class. I don’t know what I would do without this amazing  book.  As soonas I saw it it got my atention.   It is superduper brillant.

WW100 An important day for Port Ellen Primary

On  Friday the Choir sang at Port Ellen Pier in front of the Princess Royal, it was very nervewracking! We sang to remember the solders that died in World War 1 and the people who drowned in the ship disasters.  The song we sang was called Tuireadh nan Treun, it was amazing and the Choir was very nervous. The song meant Lament for the Brave. The Choir sang with there red shirts and we also sang with the adult Choir. We also saw the Royal Navy. The bagpipes played along the road.  Princess Anne said our singing was amazing.
