Inverness 10k

Salen PS Inverness 10k June 30th 2016SPS Runners
Ellen and Gemma MacRae of Salen Primary School raised ÂŁ570 for Cancer Research UK by running the Inverness 10k. Well done girls! You ran an amazing distance and collected a phenomenal amount of money.

They are so keen on running and sports. They also achieved a 1st and 2nd place at the Tiree Fitness Kids Event.

Isaac’s Design Success

Strachur PS Isaac fringe compLast year Isaac McAlinden from Strachur Primary entered a competition, along with the rest of his P6/7 class, to design the front cover of this year’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival programme. His design was shortlisted and displayed in ‘Our Dynamic Earth’ in Edinburgh over the summer. We love his design, what do you think?

DGS Learning Centre at Kirn Gala

dgslearningcentrekirngala2016On Wednesday 24th August Dunoon Grammar School’s learning centre had a stall at Kirn Gala.
On our stall we had lots of Different plants, Home baking, Tablet, Fudge, Home grown Organic Vegetables and Herbs
The weather was very kind to us, The sun was shining and it was very busy .We had a very successful evening. We raised ÂŁ206.49
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us.

Cowal Inter Sports Winners !

DPS Sports Winners 8 31 Aug 2016Cowal Highland Gathering Stadium was the venue for the Active Schools Sports Day. This year they decided to change the format of the annual sports event to increase participation within the local primary schools.

P7 Graduation Dinner

Salen PS P7 Graduation 1 2016Salen Primary School Mainstream and Gaelic Primary 7s enjoyed a wonderful graduation dinner at The Galleon Grill in Tobermory. They were accompanied by their teachers, Mrs MacCrone and Miss Chase, and Head Teacher, Miss MacLean. The Galleon Grill presented the pupils with specially printed menus to mark the occasion which they all took away with them. A great night was had by all. We send the young people our very best wishes and hopes for the future.

Sunshine and smiles

Salen Marie Curie 1Salen Primary School pupils held a daffodil lunch to raise funds for Marie Curie. They were delighted to present one of our parents, Louise Scarlett, with a cheque for ÂŁ400. An additional ÂŁ116 was raised by holding a collection at the end of term service and the pupils requested that this also be donated to Marie Curie.

Olympic success for Team Kiribati

Salen Kiribati Olympics 2Salen Primary School was proud to represent the island nation of Kiribati for Island Sports Day. The pupils researched the competing nations before deciding to adopt Kiribati who had only one competitor travelling to Rio. Staff and pupils joined in the opening ceremony parade dressed in Kiribati colours.

Parklands School In-Reach/Out-Reach Open afternoons.

The In-Reach/Out-Reach team at Parklands School in Helensburgh will be holding informal open afternoons from Monday 5th to Thursday 8th September from 3.30pm – 4.30pm.

Feel free to pop in to find out and chat to us about the various intervention programmes on offer to children within Mainstream schools, as well as taking a look at our planning, resources and classroom set-up.

Helensburgh and Lomond Technology Event

Technology DSC00052Showcase – On Saturday 7 May 2016 around 300 primary pupils from across Helensburgh and Lomond attended a technology showcase event with parents.
The aim of the event was to help equip young people with the necessary skills and knowledge to turn computing ideas into concepts, showcase what can be created through technology and provide additional exciting computer science related learning opportunities.

Argyll and Bute School Staff Receive a Professional Development Award

PDA Whole Group + Admin + RR - FinalOn the 21st June 2016, 22 Classroom and Additional Support Needs Assistants received certificates for the SQA Professional Development Award (PDA) in Education Support Assistance in a ceremony held in the Loch Fyne Hotel, Inveraray.

Roslyn Redpath, Principal Educational Psychologist, presented the certificates on behalf of Argyll and Bute Council and congratulated the candidates on their hard work and commitment.

WE’RE VERY SORRY YOU COULDN’T MAKE IT, MA’AM

Rosneath Queens Birthday June 2016 5As part of her 90th Birthday celebrations, the Queen attended many functions and parties. Here at Rosneath Primary School, we took the opportunity to join in the celebrations with our very own Tea Party for Her Majesty. As you can tell by the faces (some of which had to be “scrubbed clean”) the whole School was very proud to come together to “devour” enthusiastically (but minding manners, of course) a lovely spread provided by Mrs Johnson (our Catering Supervisor) and her Staff.

WHAT A GREAT HONOUR, YOUR MAJESTY

Rosneath RME Topic 3 June 2016Recently, as part of their R.M.E. Topic on Celebrations, P3/2 at Rosneath Primary School decided to make then send 90th Birthday Cards to the Queen. The children had great fun putting their own personal touch to their cards.
Never in their wildest dreams did they think the Queen would remember their cards out of all the millions that were sent.
