Castlehill Primary 6 Beach Clean

castlehill-beach-clean-sept-2016Primary 6 from Castlehill Primary School took part in a beach clean with Wayne Dixon and his dog Koda.
Wayne is currently walking the coast of Britain picking litter as he goes. He hopes to complete his journey over the next 3 years.

Primary 6 worked extremely hard and in only one hour collected 16 large bin bags of rubbish, along with crates, welly boots, clothing and even a picnic bench and table!

Medieval Historians and Firemen at Furnace Primary School

furnace-and-minard-careers-4-sept-2016Medieval Historians and Firemen – what do they have in common? Furnace Primary children have had active learning sessions from both in the last week. Why? We have been learning about different types of careers as part of our “World of Work” topic and were visited by Dr Steve Marritt from the University of Glasgow Medieval History department (complete with armour) and we visited Lochgilphead Fire Station where we had a tour from David Gilmour the Community Safety Officer.

Inverness 10k

Salen PS Inverness 10k June 30th 2016SPS Runners
Ellen and Gemma MacRae of Salen Primary School raised £570 for Cancer Research UK by running the Inverness 10k. Well done girls! You ran an amazing distance and collected a phenomenal amount of money.

They are so keen on running and sports. They also achieved a 1st and 2nd place at the Tiree Fitness Kids Event.

Autumn Education Programmes at Mount Stuart, Isle of Bute

Mount Stuart Root Camp2Root Camp is a not-for-profit social enterprise committed to changing the consumer habits of young adults in the UK. They work with 14-21 year olds, spending a week in a rural environment, dividing time between cooking in a professional kitchen and hands on experience in the fields – planting, harvesting, foraging and fishing.

First Harvest from Strachur PS 1Pupils have been busy picking perfect potatoes, enormous cabbage and delicious cherry tomatoes from our polytunnel – all the hard work has paid off! Thank you to Mr Burke for his expertise and commitment to our school. Also thank you Mrs Speirs in the kitchen for preparing the vegetables to serve in the lunch hall.

DGS Learning Centre at Kirn Gala

dgslearningcentrekirngala2016On Wednesday 24th August Dunoon Grammar School’s learning centre had a stall at Kirn Gala.
On our stall we had lots of Different plants, Home baking, Tablet, Fudge, Home grown Organic Vegetables and Herbs
The weather was very kind to us, The sun was shining and it was very busy .We had a very successful evening. We raised £206.49
We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who helped us.

Olympic success for Team Kiribati

Salen Kiribati Olympics 2Salen Primary School was proud to represent the island nation of Kiribati for Island Sports Day. The pupils researched the competing nations before deciding to adopt Kiribati who had only one competitor travelling to Rio. Staff and pupils joined in the opening ceremony parade dressed in Kiribati colours.

Rosneath Queens Birthday June 2016 5As part of her 90th Birthday celebrations, the Queen attended many functions and parties. Here at Rosneath Primary School, we took the opportunity to join in the celebrations with our very own Tea Party for Her Majesty. As you can tell by the faces (some of which had to be “scrubbed clean”) the whole School was very proud to come together to “devour” enthusiastically (but minding manners, of course) a lovely spread provided by Mrs Johnson (our Catering Supervisor) and her Staff.

Rosneath RME Topic 3 June 2016Recently, as part of their R.M.E. Topic on Celebrations, P3/2 at Rosneath Primary School decided to make then send 90th Birthday Cards to the Queen. The children had great fun putting their own personal touch to their cards.
Never in their wildest dreams did they think the Queen would remember their cards out of all the millions that were sent.

JLB Scottish Education award June 2016John Logie Baird Primary School and Pre Five Unit have been celebrating their success at the Scottish Education Awards 2016.
