Primary 3 from Park Primary school recently made two trips to visit the Oban High Science department as part of their project on the States of Matter. They had a fantastic time learning about the changing states of matter and exploring materials that are soluble and insoluble.

Five Lochgilphead High School pupils competed in the West of Scotland ensemble championships in Kilmarnock last weekend. Jessica Tanner (trumpet), Freya Corner (trumpet), Sioned Phillips (tenor horn), Alistair Cupples (euphonium) and Gavin Johnson (tuba) competed in the under 21 class.

On Wednesday 29th October, S6 DGS students Tylor Bracey and Simone Peter set off on a one day trip to Auschwitz in Poland, along with their History teacher, Mr Darkins. This life changing trip was part of an experience organised and part funded by the Holocaust Educational Trust (HET), designed to keep the memory of the Holocaust alive and to educate younger generations on the lessons of the past.

Early on Saturday 12th September, Ruby Brown, Caitlyn Meaney, Chloe Macdonald and Calum MacKinnon set off for Schwarzenbach an der Saale in Germany with their teacher Mrs Clark to undertake work experience. Ruby and Caitlyn worked for Sandler AG, a company which makes textiles, Chloe worked in a Nursery and Calum spent his three days working for an Architect.

On Thursday 3rd of September all the learning centre pupils from Dunoon Grammar went on a sponsored walk. Pupils and staff set of from School down Kirn Brae, along the front all the way to Bullwood Nature Trail, near Innellan. Some senior pupils supported the younger pupils, keeping them safe and happy as part of their youth Achievement Award.
Dunoon Grammar School Learning centre pupils have been nominated and shortlisted for an AB Award 2015. The AB Awards celebrate youth achievement in Argyll and Bute and are awarded by members of Argyll and Bute Youth Forum and Argyll and Bute Council’s Youth Services. Learning centre pupils have been nominated because of their contribution to the environment, both within school and within the local community. A delegation of pupils and staff will go to Oban on September 24th to join in the celebrations with all the other young people who have been nominated and shortlisted as well.
A local Cowal Charity will soon be £3000 better off thanks to the pupils of Dunoon Grammar School.
An innovative school based project, designed to encourage young people to think about prominent social issues and build strong partnerships with local charities was launched in Dunoon Grammar School on Monday, 24 August 2015.

Rothesay Primary and Academy came together in a fantastic production of Beauty and the Beast. Rehearsals began early this year. With performances on 16th 17th and 18th of June. Pupils and staff planned , prepared and performed together under the directorship of Primary teacher Julie Henry. Thanks go to all who helped, Art and Technical departments among many more.
Lochgilphead High School senior Art and PDA students working with the poet Ken Cockburn and Graphic artists Nicole Heidtke and Stefan Baumberger on a ‘Boswell and Johnson’ project through Creative Arts Scotland.
The project will continue during the Summer holidays and finished result uploaded in August…………….
Dunoon Primary School Choir sang their hearts out tonight at the Summer Extravaganza at Dunoon Grammar School.They confidently sang 5 songs including Under the Sea, I Just Can’t Wait To Be King, When You Believe, I Can I Will and Sing.
This was the first time the choir had appeared on stage at the local Secondary School. the choir certainly rose to the occasion and were really delighted with their performance.

On Friday 19th June Park Primary 3 visited the Oban High School Home Economics department as part of our interdisciplinary learning project on Food Journeys. While there we made our own individual pizzas using ingredients sourced from different countries around the world and then measured which pizza had ‘travelled’ the furthest! The entire visit was extremely well organised and the children found it a very enjoyable and valuable experience. They also enjoyed eating their pizzas!
On the 3rd of June 2015 some pupils from Dunoon Grammar School took part in Scottish Disability Sports National Junior Athletics tournament in Grangemouth. Competitors from all over the country gather to race against each other. This is the fifth time that DGS pupils have participated.
Each competitor had three events which included 60m, 100m, shot putt, standing long jump and running long jump. The day was bright, windy and cold and perfect for competing. Continue reading DGS Grangemouth Success
At the Technology Showcase event at Dunoon Grammar School on Saturday 23rd May, pupils from Dunoon Primary School showcased a new powerful coding game called Project Spark. Using this software, children are able to build and play on their own worlds, stories and games.

P3, P4 and our Pre 5 pupils were delighted to take part in a Vocal Workshop, organised and led by Miss McChesney, music teacher from Dunoon Grammar School and some of her fantastic pupils! The children learned some new songs, harmonised in groups with actions and dance moves. The children thoroughly enjoyed the experience. What a wonderful way to improve and add to their performance skills. An excellent opportunity to work in co-operation with enthusiastic and supportive secondary school pupils. After a brain gym game to get us actively thinking, they divided us into groups and worked with us, brainstorming our worries and encouraging us to remember the positives about ‘moving up to The Grammar’.
