The P1/2 class from Bunessan Primary School had an excellent time decorating a tree for the Ross of Mull and Iona Community Christmas Tree Festival held in Bunessan Hall on Saturday 15th and Sunday 16th December. The theme this year was a ‘special event’, so the P5/6/7 class decided that we should decorate our tree in a forest theme as they’d all very much enjoyed forest workshops with An Tobar artist in residence, Emma. BEAVERS COME TO DALINTOBER

Oly Hemmings from Knapdale Beavers came to visit Dalintober recently. Many classes took the opportunity to have a hands on experience. During the sessions children had the opportunity to find out about the habitat, food, tracks and characteristics of beavers. Oly helped the children to learn by investigating items and making discoveries themselves. Follow up materials were provided so that a more in depth study could be made. Sprouts are the favourite!!!

On Tuesday lunch time Luing cook Marianne, helped by Liz from Easdale, cooked up a wonderful Christmas dinner for pupils and staff. Sprouts were declared the favourite vegetable by many of the pupils and Mr Glen-Lee. Mr Glen-Lee thought he was champion sprout eater, but sadly lost out to Duncan and Fergus. Dunoon Primary Choir at Clyde Cottage Nursery

The choir were at Clyde Cottage Nursery on Tuesday morning 18 December 2012 to entertain the nursery children. They had a medley of Christmas songs ready to thrill their audience. The nursery children sat quietly all the way through the choirs performance and they even joined in for Jingle Bells.They sang some favourties e.g. Snowman and He Haw. Barcaldine Entertain Local Community

Barcaldine Primary school children came together on Wednesday night to entertain family, friends and the local community at their annual Christmas Community Night.
It wasn’t easy but we managed to convince Gary Barlow, Nicole Sherzinger, Cheryl Cole, Louis Walsh and Simon Cowell (aka the P7 pupils) to judge our entries for the night. Cardross Cinderella Rockerfella

Cardross Primary has been getting into the festive spirit with their production of Cinderella Rockerfella. The P4-7 pupils performed their dress rehearsals to local primaries and nurseries as well as the senior citizens in the village. This was good preparation for their two sell out shows! ‘One Bright Star’ Dunoon Primary School Choir

“All who attended St John’s church last Sunday evening enjoyed a pre-Christmas treat as Dunoon Primary School Choir led their annual carol service. Presenting the Christmas story in narrative and song, they performed the lovely cantata “One Bright Star” interspersed with some traditional carols.” Lots of smiling, happy faces from the children proved how much they have enjoyed singing the beautiful songs this year and they were pleased all their hard work had paid off. JLB’s Musical Medley

Parents and friends of John Logie Baird Primary were wonderfully entertained by the children of the school during their Christmas performance of ‘JLB’s Musical Medley’.
They were taken to different locations through songs such as ‘How Do You Solve A Problem Like Maria’, ‘ Chitty Chitty Bang Bang’, ‘Under The Sea’ & ‘I’m The King of The Swingers’.
The children learned a lot during the creation of the concert about performing to an audience, prop making, costume design and creative dance.

Achaleven Holly Tea

We held our Holly Tea in the school last Saturday. We had fun getting ready for the big day. We iced biscuits, made beautiful table decorations with holly and candles and decorated the classroom with festive pictures.
Everyone helped on the day. There was lots and lots of lovely home baking for sale. Fair Trade tea and coffee was on offer as we are working towards becoming a Fair Trade school. Merry Christmas shoppers

Primary 4 children from Lochnell were invited to cheer up shoppers in Oban by creating festive windows in Tescos. As well as reindeer and christmas trees they painted winter scenes and all the shoppers passing by were delighted with the cheery outcome.  Mrs McCrindle, their teacher, produced freehand outlines for the children to work on and they painted and decorated with great glee until every window they’d been assigned was a mass of colour. Chaplins Panto comes to Kilcreggan!

What a fun-filled afternoon we had at Kilcreggan Primary yesterday (13th).  Chaplins Panto visited school and gave a wonderful performance of Dick Whittington.  Pupils, staff and parents were literally rolling in the aisles!  Our school hall was “magically” transformed into a pantomime theatre and filled with music, jokes and top-class entertainment.  We just didn’t want it to end. Luing Primary School’s Christmas Night of Entertainment

There was not an empty seat in Cullipool Hall when the pupils of Luing Primary School entertained parents, grandparents and members of the local community. Christmas Tree Festival

Hermitage Primary School Choir entertained at the Christmas Tree Festival in The United Reform Church in Helensburgh on Wednesday 12th December 2012.  This is an annual community event organised to support various charities.  This year, it was to support the African Children’s Choir and Combat Stress.  The children told the story of Christmas in rhyme and song. Dunoon Primary ‘A Christmas Recipe’

Dunoon Primary and the Nursery have been busy working on this years Infant Nativity entitled  ‘ A Christmas Recipe.’  Cat and Dog are helping Cook create a special Christmas recipe.  Into a huge bowl all kinds of ‘ingredients’ are added in turn.  Father Christmas is the first to be stirred in, followed by presents, robins, snow, a donkey, shepherds and angels, stars, wise men and one final ingredient – a Christmas gift that is all wrapped up in a manger.  The love that a special baby brings is the vital ingredient to complete the recipe. Snowflake tea at Kilcreggan Primary School

We held a Snowflake Tea last Friday, organised by our Parent Council.  Pupils made and sold their own arts and crafts.  Parents and people from the local community held table top sales and a fun afternoon was had by all.  The money raised will be put into Parent Council Funds to be spent on items for pupils and the School at a later date.  A big THANK YOU to all those who helped on the day and to those who came and spent generously!
