Outside VCOP

For VCOP this week we went outside since it was warm! We took chalk outside and wrote nouns, adverbs and adjectives on the concrete. Then we made sentences with them – it was great fun!!! We hope it will stay warm so we can go outside again in more of the weeks before summer.

Outside library

Just like VCOP we got to go outside for our library session this week. We all choose our books and brought them outside to sit and read in the sun.

IDL

In our three sessions of IDL this week we learned loads about our new topic ‘our world of work.’ We took a personality quiz to find out what animal we were and what sort of jobs we might do well in. Some of the animals consisted of: teddy bear, cat, koala, tawny owl, seahorse, lion, seal, tiger, barn owl, black bear, clown fish, dolphin, eagle, falcon, panther and polar bear. What every animal you got could also tell you about your personality. We also started a practise of our P7  profiles. We learnt how to use google sites, which is a tool to help you create a website. We learnt lots of things about google sites including, how to upload pictures and videos. Another season of IDL was about different jobs and why they are all impotent.

Science with P1S!!!

P1 Science this week was all about mouldy bread and washing your hands. We had to show them a hand washing song and then get them to make their own. We then used this song to help them wash their hands properly, not forgetting the soap!

RME

This week for RME we were sharing our perfect Shabbat. You could display this in any way you wanted. Such as a poster, a drama or a powerpoint. Some rules of Shabbat are: no electronics, no working of any kind, including cooking. Some things you might do on Shabbat would be spending time with family and friends.

Science

In science this week we taught the P1s about how to wash their hands we did three stations. The first station was we had to show them a video or a song about how to wash your hands thoroughly and in different ways! The second station was you had to rub oil on your hands then wash them but you could not get it of so you had to use special soap (cinnamon) and the oil would come straight of their hands. station three they had to get a piece of bread and rub it and touch it with dirty hands so microorganisms would grow and they are going to find out after the easter holidays maybe mould would grow on it.

Tuesday 26/02/19  Writing/ VCOP

In the morning everyone planned a story ready to enter the BBC 500 words challenge. Uniqueness was a key success criteria, along with a clear plot all adding up to a maximum of 500 words. Everyone successfully started a plan and were soon writing down all their crazy ideas down in their jotters or on a computer. We are now roughly half way through writing them, they will be submitted to BBC’s 500 word judges soon.

Tuesday 26/02/19 Music

Later on that day we went to music with Miss Cowan – our music teacher – and started with categories, everyone’s favourite warmup, soon after we continued to learn the words to  ‘Keep the Home Fires Burning’ and ‘ We’ll meet again’ , which are well known songs used during WW2 to boost morale. Beforehand we revised the things that we had previously learned about Vera Lynn and Glenn Miller along with the Glenn Miller Orchestra.

Wednesday 27/02/19 IDL

On Wednesday we learned about Morse code and how to decipher it along with caesar shift codes. Miss Sharp gave us all a sheet of different codes, a mixture of Morse code and caesar shift codes. We were in groups to decipher all the codes and make up our own ones up.

The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas –

This week in reading we have been focusing on The Boy in the Striped Pyjamas and learning all about what it would have been like to be a child in WW2. We have looked at how the author uses clothes to define status and give us clues about a character.

VCOP –

We have been revising how to use apostrophe to show possession for singular and plural nouns.

SNSA’s –

Instead of doing maths this week we were doing our SNSA’s which is an assessment. We did numeracy, reading, and writing.

Assembly –

In assembly we are learning about how richer countries should help support poorer countries if they need access to clean water. There is a charity called Water Aid that helps build taps for fresh water. Normally children and adults would walk for miles for dirty water, however because Water Aid are helping them they are much healthier and happier.

P.E. –

In P.E. we are learning about how to defend in Frisbee. Defending is very crucial in the game because you can use it to prevent the other team from scoring or use it to intercept and get it for your team. The way you defend is by marking the opposing team by following them everywhere they go. Each player will get a place on the court they have to defend.

IDL –

We have been learning about rationing during WW2. We have also been continuing to update our WW2 Google Form Quiz.
