In ICT we learned how to use forms and what it’s for.

Later,we learned about the blitz, seen as our new topic is WW2

In the afternoon we listened to some stories about WW2 from people that had lived through it!

 

Tuesday

 

In writing we wrote a piece of writing as if we lived through the blitz.

In VCOP we learned how to use generalising words.

In science we learnt about the eatwell guide and what we should and shouldn’t eat often.

 

Wednesday

 

In reading we read chapter 1 and 2 of the boy in the striped pyjamas

In IDL we started our WW2 art works.

 

Thursday

 

In VCOP we learnt how to uplevel sentences using adverbs, adjectives, more detail and generalising words.

In French we were learning about countries and capital cities.

In pe we did ultimate frisbee.

In idl we did a P.E.E task.

 

Friday

 

In RME we did a task map about bullying.

In pe we did a Joe wick HIIT.

In idl we continued with our art.

Miss Sharp

On Monday we did reading in the morning, IDL in between break and lunch and we had Techfest after lunch. At Techfest we played games and solved puzzles which were all maths related.

On Tuesday we learnt about adding prefixes to words to create different words – sometimes with a whole different meaning. For example start could become restart.

In writing we wrote an advert for a charity called age uk who help old people.

In science we wrote our conclusions for the pH experiment and we did the filtration experiment.

In IDL we wrote our emails to Sir Ernest Shackleton Junior showing what we learned in mission 3 of polar explorers.

In French we did Christmas word searches.

We also had an achievement assembly on Friday.

In Science this week we learned about water filtration. We learned what happens to the water just to get it clean as well as learning how to make a filter. We also drew a poster of the water cycle in relation to the Antarctic.

In VCOP we learned how to use a suffix in writing and change a noun into a verb for example, glory =glorify.

In French we learned clothes and how to write a sentence on what someone’s wearing.

In HWB we looked at thinking hats again and used them in a scenario which was made up.

Throughout the week we practiced our Christmas songs e.g. On a Starry Night and Come on Ring Those Bells.

BLOG 

IDL: This term our new topic is ‘Polar Explorers’. We have been learning about the food chains of the Arctic and Antarctic animals for e.g sun gives plankton energy, Krill eats plankton and so on.  

Music: In music we have been learning our christmas songs and the actions. We are singing with 6M (go check out their blog)! We learned how to warm up our voices in a game. and how to count music in syllables.

Mental Maths: We have started to create a display to help us with our mental maths strategies.

Monday- On Monday we were reading and completing tasks on our various books, then we moved on to I.C.T where we were practicing touch-typing In the afternoon we went to library for the last 15 minutes of the day, it was fun choosing our books for the week.

Tuesday- On Tuesday we were writing about a magic black hole and coming up with crimes that happened becauase of the black hole, it was very enjoyable to write about something that was not real. Just before lunch we had music and it was interesting because we were learning our Christmas song for our Christmas show.

Wednesday- On Wednesday we had maths in our various math classes. Next in the afternoon we all got given homework to be completed by Monday the 26/11/18. At the last part of the day we did I.D.L / Topic we were introduced to our new topic Antarctica and the Artic.

Thursday- On Thursday we were learning French, it was fun when we were drawing our characters and making them into wanted posters, in the afternoon we were in P.E.  with our P.E teacher and we did nonstop running for 10 minutes, it was hard but fun.

Fri-yay– On Friday we were at assembly and a few P4s and P5s were discussing their talks about our world and how palm oil was affecting our Orangutan friends.

BLOG – A small insight into what we did in P7S this week.

Monday-We learned how WW1 ended with Germany’s surrender in 1918 and what happened afterwards to all the countries involved in WW1.

Tuesday– We did a character description on a short film called Wing, all about bullying, that Miss Kaur showed the class. We also edited our Wing description.   

Wednesday- We made Pointillism art to do with anti -bullying with Miss Kaur. We also had a maths with our new teachers.

Thursday-In french we finished of our wanted posters, then we did a French word search that you had to translate to English.

Blog

This week was the final week of our ‘Stop the Press’ topic which was about World War One. We did this because it has been 100 years since world war one ended. We learnt about how it started, inventions, animals, people, and how they got people to join the army.

As well as doing  I.D.L we have also been doing our term 2 targets which we will look back on at the end of term 2. We will be trying our best all term to achieve these. 

A few of us shared some stories or information about WW1.

In art we did poppy art  in order to remember the 17 million troops who died.

In VCOP we have been learning about relative clauses, these add more description to our writing . For example Jonny was a boy, who was very naughty. We also learnt about expanded noun phrases . For example;

The thief.

The thief who was small.

The thief who was small, took the phone

In mental maths  we learnt about multiplying decimals by a single digit number. For example,

4.03 x 6 = 24.18

In writing we did poems-we could choose between kennings, rhyming couplets or a narrative.  We wrote about animals in World War One and how it affected them.

Our pupil council reps have been busy gathering our feedback about various issues.

This week..

IDL

This week we have started our new topic, it is World War 1. We have been doing many activities throughout this topic, such as learning about what life would be like and where they would live. We have learned about the main aspects of what happened in those years. Also about the main weapons used!

HWB

This week we have had health and well-being , we have a new student teacher, Miss Kaur who gave us an awesome lesson, to get to know each other better. Some of the activities were fortune tellers, drawing a picture of yourself in the present and in the future, a questionnaire on her, and lastly a game of would you rather.

VCOP

In VCOP we were learning about relative clauses, we got given a sentence and we had to find the noun in it and write a bit more description about that noun.

E.g. The penguin, who was very cold, threw the snowball.

FRENCH

In French on Thursday Madam Shepard brought in her student teacher from France, who came here to come to Aberdeen University, who told us all about life in France and some differences between French schools and ours.

E.g. In France their schools start at 8:00 and finish at 5:00 but here we start at 9:00 and finish at 3:15

ICT

During ICT this week we were learning how to do touch typing on the computer. We got taught how to use 10 fingers. As well as that we also saw how many words we could type in a minute – we will be trying to improve throughout the term to see if we can beat our own scores!

Blog

ICT:

In ICT, we learnt how to use google slides. Because our topic is “Grow A Fiver, Make A Difference”, we had to create a presentation about a famous entrepreneur, we did Coco Chanel and Milton Hershey.

IDL:

In IDL we have been selling our products or services, so far it has been really successful and we have sold to most of the school. We look forward to seeing you on Wednesday the 10th from 1:30 to 2:30.

Writing: In writing we made top 10 tips on how to run a successful business, it was great fun.  

Art:

In art we have been designing our own christmas cards, although there are still 81 days till christmas!

Science: In science we were doing an experiment to see what effects different liquids had on our teeth (eggs). The worst drink we tested was the Boost energy drink.

P.E.:

In P.E we have been learning how to play hockey. We have learnt how to hold a hockey stick, stop the ball, the indian dribble, the english dribble and how to push pass.
