Week Beginning 22.01.18

VCOP: In VCOP this week we were learning how to use dashes and hyphens. We had to make a sentence about a picture on the board for using dashes e.g. Hello from P6S – the best class ever. We also had to hyphenate words such as, mid-September, eye-opening and deep-fried.

P.E. In P.E we are doing badminton and we were learning how to do under arm and back-hand serves. We also learnt how to do the smash. Miss Mair also put out different games and we played them.

HWB: In HWB we were listening to worries people put in the worry bucket and giving advice. We also played the game, ‘In P6 we have learned about…’ e.g. A= Adjective B= BODMAS C= capital letters and every time somebody said the thing some would have to repeat it.

Writing: In writing we were making magazine articles about sustainability, we had to include lots of points about sustainability and what it is.

Science: In science we were finding and making up our own energy transfer experiments, we all have worked really hard and will be showing these to the class on Wednesday. Make sure you have taken in your resources by Monday.

IDL: In IDL we have started designing sustainable and reliable homes for people who are suffering in flood prone Watu, a little island in the middle of the Indian Ocean. It is for the charity Practical Action.

Week Beginning 15.01.18

Monday- In French with Madame Shepherd we learned all about the days and months in French and told the class when our birthday month is in French. We listened to a song about all the 12 months in the year. In IDL with Miss Sharp we also learned about all of the different energy types. We had to decide what energy type the examples at the different stations were showing.

Tuesday- In writing we learned about a balanced argument about whether or not we should use renewable or non-renewable energy in our houses or in general. We listened to a video about if we should climb up a mountain. We also created a word bank of useful connectives and linking sentence openers.

Wednesday- In IDL we did energy transfers with Miss McCrimmon gravitational, potential, kinetic, heat, chemical, light and sound. We also had to put them in a sentence that showed what the input energy was and what it was transferred to.

Thursday- In art we did camouflage designs. Now we will be telling you about how we made them, so you cut out a two shapes then you trace round them with other pieces of paper. In mental maths we were learning about tenths and hundredths and how to add them mentally.

Friday-We did IDL again. We learned about sustainability and about the diseases in Africa. We got set a challenge to see if we could dispense water in a safe way that prevents bacteria getting into your body when hand washing.

CIRICLE TIME

We played a game where we asked each other question about our holiday. We also played fruit salad, which is where you get a fruit and you swap with people with the same fruit.
