Writing

In writing we did rhyming couplets about Christmas adverts such as Kevin the carrot. We had to make up a story about a magical Christmas adventure.

IDL

This week we did 3-4 minute vlogs and we were preparing to show 6A/D and 6M what we have been doing in our topic U.D.V this term. Our vlogs had to show updated Fakebook, Weeebly, our prototype and explain all the features of the prototype.

Maths

In maths we did we did problem solving activity were we had to answer BODMAS questions to reveal what Santa had put into the stocking.

We were doing a Christmas maths murder mystery to find out who murdered who, where, why and what date. We had to use our brains to solve problems about:

Area

Perimeter

Multiplying

Chimney sums

Money calculations

Decimals

Prime numbers

When you add decimals you always have to remember the decimal points.

ICT

During ICT this week have been re-writing our stories. We have been learning shortcuts to make the writing bold, underlined and into italics and ABC spellcheck.

French

In French this week we learned how to spell all the days of the week.

Reading

During reading one group presented a play.

Science: This week in science was our last time with circuits so we carried out our own experiments. Some of us wanted to find out if an apple was a conductor or an insulator. Another experiment was if different types of metals effect the brightness of the bulb.

Miss Sharp gave us some hexagons, with words about circuits on them, that we had to join together.  We had to make connections between the words in order to join them. The more connections we could make the more our hexagons would group together.

 

Writing: In writing we wrote rhyming couplet poems about reflecting on our learning. There had to be at least three paragraphs with two lines. At the end of the line it had to rhyme e.g.

My mind is a in a ginormous tizz.

Can some please tell me how to be a reflective whizz.

I lock myself in the bathroom to cry.

I looked at my success criteria it had three reds so I let of a big sigh.

Finally, my classmate decides to tell me,

He told me what reflecting is, now I have the key.

The reason I need to reflect is because I need to learn,

Or else I will burn.

Now I am a class whizz.

I can reflect without getting in a tizz.

PE: In PE with Miss Mair, we learnt how to do the Haka. The Haka is a type of dance that New Zealand do to intimidate their opponents. In PE with Miss sharp we were continuing with Tai Chi.

IDL: In IDL it is Social Media week and we have created a Fakebook page. Each group had to post five things. It was about the things that you couldn’t post on the Fakebook. We also had to come up with unique ways to promote our product on the site.

VCOP: This week in VCOP we learnt more about connectives, we also made up stories, in groups, about a stormy day. Each story had to have a variety of simple, compound and complex sentences in them – as we are also still working on using and understanding of these.

Art: This week in art we were designing a new modern Santa’s sleigh. Some had a present launcher, some were U.F.O’s and many more amazing ones.

Singing: This week in singing we were practising our Christmas songs (All Around the World and Where Shall We Go This Christmas) for the big show on Wednesday and Thursday.

THE BLOG

HWB:   This week in HWB we played the rule game. To play this game we had to use these skills; concentration, sportsman ship, memorising and listening. Here’s an example of the game: 1 2 3, 4 5, 6 7 8, 9, 10 11, 12 13 14, 15, now instead of 3 you stamp your feet and so on.

French:   This week in French we learnt about the colours for example: pink = rose,  red = rouge. We also did a listening test which is when we have to listen to a sentence in French and match it up to a picture, which was on the board. It was very fun!!

VCOP:    In VCOP this week we have been learning about connectives, here are all of the types of connectives we have been learning to use in a sentence; adding, sequencing, emphasizing, comparing, cause & effect, qualifying, illustrating and contrasting. We LOVE connectives!!!!

Reading:   In reading this week some groups are reading these books; Black Beauty, Really Weird Removls and The TUPILAC.

PE: In PE this week we did Scottish country dancing, below are some pictures, of us doing the dance!!

IDL:   This week in IDL it was prototype week!! We have been working our socks off with the amount of work we have been doing on our prototypes! Everyone loves working on their prototypes!!!!!!!!!!!!
