Pupils from Westfield today had their sports day where they participated in house teams. The weather held out until shortly before lunch time when we gave into the rain and retreated indoors after a few of the race events. Once inside, we quickly tallied the points from both sessions to discover this years Sports Day Salver winners. Ferguson were the successful champions this year closely followed by Stuart and Liddell.

Congratulations to all pupils for their efforts and participation.
This week we had some exciting visitors in nursery. Mrs Alexander brought in her pet stick insects and her leopard gecko.
Please check out this term’s Nursery sway for more details and photos.
The nursery children are thoroughly enjoying all the outdoor area, which is available all day, all weathers. With this in mind, please ensure that children come with appropriate footwear for puddles and a change of clothes, should they get wet. Waterproofs are available, but some puddles are big!
To read about the massive benefits that all this outdoor learning brings, please follow the picture below:
Today in Nursery the children had lots of fun developing their gross motor skills, coordination and balance when attempting our sponsored obstacle course.
They started by weaving in and out of cones.
Next they had to crawl though a tunnel.
Then use their balance to walk along a beam.
Then step along the ‘stepping stone’ block.
Then weave in and out cones with a small hoop on their head.
Lastly bounce three times on a spacehopper before starting all over again!
Please enjoy our gallery of photos below.
Money raise is being used to help pay for our nursery summer trip. We have asked for any money raised to be handed in by the 9th of June or as soon as possible.
Thank you for your continued support.
P1/2 and some of P6/7 have been busy this week doing lots of collaborative activities based around the story book Whatever Next by Jill Murphy.
P6/7 quickly set to the task of writing a sequel to the original story using a similar format and characters. We have been preparing for our class assembly next week which Abby, Kian, Jowita, Wiktoria and Chloe will help us to present.
We created a healthy picnic for teddy and owl. – Maris
We changed the words of Teddy Bears picnic and made it about Owl and Baby Bear. – Leah
P6/7 wrote a new story called Baby Bears Adventures. – Stephen
We designed teddy a proper spacesuit. – Adam
We watched Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldron walking on the moon. – Oliver
We played a game called “Whatever Next” which was like What’s the time Mr Wolf. – Lewis
We are looking forward to sharing all our learning with you on Wednesday at our Assembly.
This week the children in the nursery have been thinking about rhyming words. They have also been enjoying lots of mark making outside. The children have been listening to stories and singing songs in our new story corner.  Furhermore the children have been busy looking after our vegetables and seeing how well they are growing. The children, on friday morning, chose to plant radishes in the last available section of our vegetable patch.
Please enjoy our photo gallery below.
Please remember you can keep upto date with the learning in the nursery through our Sway.
This week Mrs Alexander has been very busy setting up our new outdoor storytelling area, it looks fabulous. Mrs Alexander started by digging the holes for the logs to be place in and then secured them with postcrete. Next she inserted willow into the ground, for the frames of the chairs, and then weaved the willow around the base. To finish off our bespoke storytelling area Mrs Alexander created one large storyteller’s chair and added screening to the fence, to create the perfect storytelling setting for feeding young imaginations.
Some of the children helped a little by putting on gardening gloves and packing the willow chairs with wood chips and cuttings.
We are excited by the story area’s potential to help develop the children’s communication and literacy skills, as well as promoting creativity.
We have already started to witness the benefits it will bring with the children already using the area to share and listen to each other’s imaginative stories.
Please feel free to thank Mrs Alexander, in the comment section, for all her hard work in creating our fabulous bespoke storytelling corner.
We attended a cross country event with other P6 Pupils from schools across West Lothian. We ran completed a course around Linlithgow Peel and there were trophies awarded for first, second and third place for both boys and girls. The weather was nice and we had lots of fun taking part.
