P5/6/7 Snow Day Activities for Tuesday 1st March 2018

Good morning.

Today for Maths and Numeracy you can continue to work through the sumdog and Heinemann Active Math games allocated on both sites. Also you can make up word problems using addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, all centered around the snow.

In Literacy, as it is World Book Day, read your favourite book. Also design a front book cover and back blurb cover for a book about Ancient Egypt. It can be a factual book or fiction. Remember the features to include on the cover: tile, author and picture. Also, on the back there has to be a brief summary of what the book is about. Continue to work on your spelling words, doing the spelling activities we do in class.

If you can get out of your door today, I have another snow challenge which I hope you will take up. Your challenge is to make a 3D snow structure of the sphinx and if possible send the pictures to me the same way as some of you did yesterday. They were really impressive!!

Enjoy the snow day. Keep safe and warm!!!!

Parent Visit

On Wednesday Jai in the nursery’s dad, who is a pilot, came into tell us all about his job. It was fascinating and we all learned things we did not know. Even the teachers!!! We asked lots of questions but most of them were about crashing!!!!!!

It terrified the people who are going on a plane this summer.!!!

We would like to thank Jai’s dad for giving up his time to come and talk to us, inspiring some of us to maybe become pilots.

Rights Respecting Day for Change – A huge Success

On Wednesday 24th of May we had our Day for Change and it was a huge success!! We raised an even number of £160 which a charity called Nutrition have said that for every pound raised they will double it which means we have raised £320. This means our money will be able to train two nurses to look after malnourished children. Also we can provided four malnourished children with life saving food for five days.

On the day we had an assembly to explain Day for Change and to raise awareness of the malnourished children in Liberia. There was a cake sale at break time and the cakes sold like hot cakes!!!! We wrote Day for Change in chalk on the hall floor and covered it in coins. We paid £1 to dress down or in blue and had a guess how much money in the jar, which Meah won.

Thank you so much for helping us raise this amount and it will make a difference in these young children’s lives.

P3/4/5

Today in P3/4/5 we went outside to do our maths.

The Rectangles were finding a fraction of a quantity and showing it using nature.

The Triangles were measuring out in the playground using trundle wheels.

The Circles were making patterns with nature.

Rights Respecting Committee

On Tuesday the 7th of February the Rights Respecting Committee had an assembly to make the school aware about internet safety as it was Safer Internet Day across the country. They gave advise and tips on how to stay safe on the internet and had a question wall and photo booth in the hall to further promote internet safety.

Rights Respecting Unicef Day for Change

Wednesday the 24th May is Unicef day for change and the Rights Respecting Committee are hoping to raise money for children in danger. We will be collecting as much loose change as we can from today so if you have any lying around your houses, down the sides of your sofas we would appreciate all coins you can spare. We want to inspire our classmates to help other children around the world who are not as fortunate as we are. We are having an assembly on Wednesday morning which you are welcome to attend. The pupils can pay a £1 for dress down or in blue and there are a few other activities which we hope will help us reach our target of £150 which could provide 6 malnourished children with a month’s supply of life- saving emergency food.

Thank you in advance and any coins you can spare will be greatly appreciated.
