World Mental Health Day 2024

On Thursday 10th October 2024, P4/5 recognised World Mental Health Day by taking their learning outdoors. Outdoor learning is thought to improve mood, reduce stress, encourage relaxation, improve physical activity and boost confidence and self esteem.

P4/5 took their literacy outdoors where they found interesting places to read their books and then use the natural materials to recreate some of the illustrations and photos from their reading books.

Brilliant Books

Last term we held a Book Fair, where many children from across the school purchased some fantastic books. Due to the number of books purchased during the time the Book Fair was in school, we managed to raise some money to spend on books for our school. Children from the Pupil Leadership Team and pupils from P5/6 were responsible for choosing and ordering some new books to update our school library. There were so many good books to choose from, prices to consider, budgets to adhere to, it really was a tough job!

Just before Christmas our first box of books was delivered and our second box was delivered this week. The Helping Hands team have been busy organising the books this week and putting them out into the library for all to read.

We can’t wait to settle down with a good book!

COSY UP WITH A GOOD BOOK THIS CHRISTMAS!

It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in our school library.
We have cosy reading nooks by the fireplace and twinkling lights on the tree.
It feels magical!

Do you have a favourite book that you love to read at Christmas?

Where do you love to curl up and read when it’s cold outside?

We love to celebrate reading at every time of year!

Why not send us a photo of you reading in a cosy place
and we’ll add it to our Christmas library display?
