New Years Resolutions

Our first week back after the Christmas holidays was a busy one! What better activity to begin the new year than to reflect on the last year and make plans and goals for the year to come. We remembered all the activities we have enjoyed during 2018, when we were still young P4’s and P5’s! We thought about the things that are still to come for us this year- Lowport, trips, responsible roles, and decided to set ourselves some targets for 2019.

We created this display to share our thoughts and ideas, and help keep us on track.

Brilliant Books

Last term we held a Book Fair, where many children from across the school purchased some fantastic books. Due to the number of books purchased during the time the Book Fair was in school, we managed to raise some money to spend on books for our school. Children from the Pupil Leadership Team and pupils from P5/6 were responsible for choosing and ordering some new books to update our school library. There were so many good books to choose from, prices to consider, budgets to adhere to, it really was a tough job!

Just before Christmas our first box of books was delivered and our second box was delivered this week. The Helping Hands team have been busy organising the books this week and putting them out into the library for all to read.

We can’t wait to settle down with a good book!

Merry Christmas from P5/6

Primary 5/6 have been working hard as a team over the last few weeks to put together their own Christmas music video. All pupils have played important roles in the making of this video, either as actors, camera operators or directors. We have learned some new skills and had lots of fun along the way.

We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!

Book Swap

To celebrate World Book Day in Thursday, we would like to ask everyone to bring in a book from home that they are finished reading and wouldn’t mind swapping with someone else in school. Books should be in very good condition. Children can send in more than one book and our aim is that all children in our school get to swap a book and leave with another. This was hugely successful 2 years ago and we are really hoping for the same thing again this year. Please send books in tomorrow or Wednesday in preparation for World Book Day on Thursday.  Please note: there is no need to dress up this year. Our goal is not to spend money on costumes but to promote a love for reading. This doesn’t mmmm not apply to nursery children as they are launching Big Bedtime Read on Thursday instead. Thank you in advance.

Today’s Achievements Assembly

Today at our whole school assembly we enjoyed celebrating the achievements of many of our children from across our school when they were recognised for effort, manners and for helping others.

We were treated to a glimpse of our Glee Club performance which was outstanding! Thank you to Mrs Steel, Ms Muir, Mr Platt and Noriko our dance teacher, for helping us get ready for next week’s big performance! Make sure you remember your props for rehearsals this week everyone.

Mr Graham reminded us all of the basics of Building Learning Power with a little help from some volunteers who showed perseverance, collaboration and lots of effort! We’re looking forward to working more on mini BLP sessions over the next few weeks.

Primary 4 children shared their World Book Day challenge with everyone. They have been busy creating posters asking if everyone could bring a book in to swap and keep on Thursday. Please note, there is not a necessity for children to dress up on Thursday for World Book Day – we’d just love you to bring in a preloved book for swapping 📚📙📘📚

Toronto Burns Assembly 2018

At Toronto PS our children always impress us and make us proud…today was a goosebump kind of day, as together, we celebrated the life and times of the great Robert Burns.

Liam from P5 kicked the whole thing off by piping each class into Assembly where our House and Vice Captains presented poetry winners from across the school with wonderful certificates.

We managed to catch a few on video…we hope you enjoy listening as much as we did!  Follow the next few posts for all of the fun!
