Sky Academy

Primary 5 attended a Skills Academy at Sky this morning.  Following on from our Interdisciplinary Learning theme before Christmas, we have been researching ocean pollution and it’s effect on the the world and it’s inhabitants. We used this knowledge toady to put together a news report of our findings. At the Sky Skills Academy we each had a job role and were responsible for an area of the report. We learned about writing scripts, using the teleprompter, using cameras, camera angles, editing and trimming and presenting and interviewing, ensuring our facts were triple checked.

Our Directors and Producers had a tough job keeping us on the right path and working to a deadline, but we made it. We are really proud of the report we were able to put together through using and developing our skills and working together as a brilliant team!

New Years Resolutions

Our first week back after the Christmas holidays was a busy one! What better activity to begin the new year than to reflect on the last year and make plans and goals for the year to come. We remembered all the activities we have enjoyed during 2018, when we were still young P4’s and P5’s! We thought about the things that are still to come for us this year- Lowport, trips, responsible roles, and decided to set ourselves some targets for 2019.

We created this display to share our thoughts and ideas, and help keep us on track.

P1 Learning

We’ve had a busy first week back at school. In Maths, we learned about odd and even numbers through using our smelly socks! We also made patterns using different materials in the classroom then looked at number patterns by counting in 2’s. In Literacy, we sounded out three letter words independently.

Brilliant Books

Last term we held a Book Fair, where many children from across the school purchased some fantastic books. Due to the number of books purchased during the time the Book Fair was in school, we managed to raise some money to spend on books for our school. Children from the Pupil Leadership Team and pupils from P5/6 were responsible for choosing and ordering some new books to update our school library. There were so many good books to choose from, prices to consider, budgets to adhere to, it really was a tough job!

Just before Christmas our first box of books was delivered and our second box was delivered this week. The Helping Hands team have been busy organising the books this week and putting them out into the library for all to read.

We can’t wait to settle down with a good book!

Merry Christmas from P5/6

Primary 5/6 have been working hard as a team over the last few weeks to put together their own Christmas music video. All pupils have played important roles in the making of this video, either as actors, camera operators or directors. We have learned some new skills and had lots of fun along the way.

We hope everyone has a lovely Christmas!
