Our children and staff were very touched today as they were taken through an Assembly dedicated to Jak Trueman, an inspirational teenager who demonstrated a remarkable strength and positivity and showed extraordinary courage and selflessness when he raised nearly £100,000 in total for various cancer charities before he, unfortunately lost his battle with cancer.
His desire to create a positive legacy grew and 6 days before he died Jak unveiled plans to support other young people walking the same journey as he had and their families. He called his Charity Team Jak. Today, at Toronto Primary School we helped raise money for this incredible charity and with your support, are delighted to say we raised £130. Thank you!

A huge thank you to everyone who donated to this wonderful charity! The children took part in an Assembly planned for and run by our fabulous Pupil Council and amazing Assembly Team where they learned about some less fortunate children in and around Britain and of all the charities who are there to support them. THANK YOU!

We would like to say HUGE big thank you to all families who managed to send in something for our West Lothian Foodbank Appeal. As always, we were blown away with your generosity and kindness! Your contributions will go a long long way to helping to support local families in West Lothian over the Christmas period.
During our Harvest Assembly we discussed how we rely on farmers to harvest fruits and vegetables which they provide to supermarkets. We watched a clip about the process of harvesting potatoes using a huge combine harvester! Some children from The Launch Pad came up to tell us all about the apples they had been busy picking this week from our school garden – they told us that they are going to use them to bake an apple crumble…yum! We can’t wait for a wee taste!

The children in Nursery have been busy planning their Halloween party for Monday 31st October and decided they wanted to write their own invitations at Group Time, which they brought home with them yesterday! They have planned all of the food they would like, the songs they wish to dance to and the party games they would like to play…safe to say…we think that Monday will be exhausting (but very exciting!)

If you would like tickets for our Parent Council run annual Halloween Disco, please send in £2 per child in a marked envelope to our school office. The discos are on Thursday 27th October. P1 – P3 from 6:15pm – 7:15pm and P4- 7 from 7:30pm – 8:30pm. Children in P4/3 class can choose which party they wish to attend. All information regarding drop off and pick up arrangements was issued in a letter before the end of term. Please complete the letter with contact numbers and include in your envelope.
We are looking forward to seeing your spook-tacular costumes :-0

Just a quick reminder that Parents’ Evenings are on Wednesday and Thursday next week from 4pm-6:30pm. All appointment slips were issued a few weeks ago. As always, a creche facility will be available in the gym hall on both evenings. We are very much looking forward to discussing your child’s progress with you.
