Bunnies, Ants and Tennis in P1a

What a great first full week in P1 for everyone. This week we were very busy getting used to our new routines and activities.

On Monday we had 2 rabbits (battery powered) visit us from the SSPCA. We had to learn all about how to take care of them and did a role play scenario of taking rabbits to the vets. We really enjoyed learning how to hold rabbits properly and being vets!

This week we started our first sounds ‘a’ and ‘t’. We loved the jolly phonics songs of ants on my arm, and when I watch the tennis match. Everyone manged to do their first piece of writing too where we practised the letter formation of a and t. Mrs Gordon was very impressed. We also used the magnetic boards to make our first word – at.

In numeracy we learnt all about numbers 0 and 1. The stories of greedy zero and penguin one helped along the way. We worked hard at forming these numbers too and went on a number hunt looking for them in the classroom.

We did some art this week and made a great display about the three little pigs, this was linked to our construction theme. We have a tuff tray where we can try to build houses out of bricks, straw and sticks for the 3 little pigs.

Happy weekend from Mrs Gordon and P1a.
