P4/5 Week commencing 29th October 2018

In our Reading Groups we started working on new pieces of text to help us improve our comprehension skills.

In handwriting we have been working on joining tall letters to small letters. We have also been trying our best to keep our work very neat and our letters on the line.  We have also been working on our pencil control techniques to help us.

In Maths we took part in the BIG Maths challenge to improve our mental maths skills.  We have also been doing “Number Talks” in maths and learning new vocabulary, number bonds and facts about different numbers.  We have also started to add using “chimney sums” to help us.

In PE we have been continuing to learn how to dribble and also how to shoot when playing basketball. We have also started our “Rugby taster” sessions at Linlithgow Rugby Club.  We learned how to dodge and score with the ball.  We are looking forward to going back next Tuesday.

During Art we constructed cube pumpkins and made table decorations to celebrate Halloween.

In French we have been learning how to count forwards and backwards up to 20.  We have also been learning the French words for different colours.

In Drama we played a game where you were given a yellow piece of paper and on it was written the name of an animal that lived in the woods.  We then had to walk around and act out what our animal was to the group.

In our class novel entitled “School Ship Tobermory” Ben and Badger went out of their cabin at “lights out” to see what Poppy and Fee were doing at the side of the ship. Then they went into a store room which contained life jackets.  When they were there they nearly got spotted by Matron but they managed to hide in the fire hydrant box before she saw them.

By Mr Ritchie and all the “Tiggerrific” P4/5s.
