P4/5 Week Commencing 24th September 2018

In Literacy we have been continuing to work hard to develop our comprehension skills and discuss the story lines in our reading books.

In ICT we have been using SumDog to help us with our Maths using search engines to help us find out interesting information about India and Scotland.

In Maths we have been working on rounding numbers, calculating double numbers and working on word problems.

In RME we finished our mini films about “Gods promise to Abraham” and we will be sharing them to the rest of the class next week.

In Science we have started working on learning about how plants grow.

In Art we have made the national flags of both Scotland and India for our new display and finished our Linlithgow Museum competition posters.  We also designed “retirement cards” to present to Mrs Orr who is retiring this week.

In PE we have continued to learn how to play the game of Badminton.  We have been working on our service techniques and trying to get the shuttle in the correct place on the court.  On Monday we had a taster session to introduce us to the game from Harry Potter called “quidditch”.

We have been using our “Incredible 5-Point Scale” to help us feel calm at school.  We have been using and trying out our strategies that we made to help us.

This morning after our spelling test we took part in the Big Maths challenge to improve our mental maths skills.  We can see that our scores are beginning to increase.  To help us we will continue to practice our tables and number bonds at home and in class.

In our class novel entitled “School Ship Tobermory” by Alexander McCall Smith the ship has now started to set sail for Term 1.  Badger told us a story about being attacked by a great white shark and how a ship came to rescue him.

By Mr Ritchie and all the “Tiggerrific” P4/5s.
