Week 2 P2/1 Home Learning

Hi,

Well done to everyone completing week one of learning at home! I have really enjoyed seeing  some of the activities you have done. I can see that some of you have been able to log on and complete activities on Sum Dog, IDL, Teach Your Monster to Read, and Education city.

I have set a numeracy, reading and spelling challenge on Sum Dog for you to try out this week. Good Luck!

Primary One – I hope you have had a go at some of the activities set for all P1 children on our blog and using the pack sent home from school. Mrs McPherson has posted some new numeracy things for you to do this week.

Primary Two – please remember not all activities need to be online. Have a go at some of the other activities on this weeks learning grid. Click this link.  P2 week 2

Remember to follow our class Twitter for additional activities too.

Looking forward to seeing how you are all getting on.

All P2 and P1 Children

Join Mrs Davies and her own kids today and make your own cafe.  Make a name for your cafe, write a menu detailing what foods are on offer and how much they will cost. We have decided that lunch will be toast and banana today and my mini chefs will be preparing and serving. Can’t wait to see if anyone joins us. I would love to see how creative you can be.

P2B Weekly Timetable Overview

Good morning P2B cherubs!

I’m really enjoying hearing and seeing photos of how you’re all getting on, on Twitter! Please continue to  share your learning with me on here or on twitter, as it give other families ideas for learning.

Some parents and carers have been asking me what the structure is like each day for Primary 2B.  I have attached a rough outline of what we do each day in P2B alongside some possible activities.

This is not mandatory at all, just a rough structure of each day for the parents and carers that would like it.

Please remember: lots of free play and outdoor learning is important too 🙂

Primary 2/1 SCIENCE

Hi there everyone! Mrs. Macandrew here. As I won’t be seeing you this week, here are the things we were going to talk about.

Fossil Fuels and Nuclear Energy

Wow whoever you are with – tell them what about what you already know about Energy! What does Energy do? Can you name any forms of Energy?

Do you remember what “Sustainable” and “Renewable” Energy means?

Today we are going to be looking at Fossil Fuels and Nuclear Energy

  1. Some Electricity is created by Nuclear energy. It is the energy stored inside some materials. Scientists have learned how to capture large amounts of energy from these forces that can then be used to generate electricity.
  2. Some Energy is created by using what we call Fossil Fuels. These are Coal, Oil and Natural Gas.
  3. Watch Fossil Fuels 101
  4. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iubWN1cnwIs
  5. Watch the PowerPoint attached called “Energy Experts,” including doing the survey.
  6. Energy Experts
  7. Discuss your findings and your ideas with someone at home.
  8. Could you be saving Energy? How?
  9. To go over again – Can you name the three forms of Fossil Fuels?
  10. Next week – Non-Sustainable energy versus Sustainable Energy?

Have fun! See you here next week!

The Lost Words Calendar 2019

The Lost Words – A Spell Book by writer Robert Macfarlane and illustrated by artist Jackie Morris is something we, as a school, became passionate about in our quest to become more familiar with the language of nature in our native land.

As a the result of Simpson Primary and Nursery’s celebration of The Lost Words through art, we have created a beautiful A4 calendar which we are selling to not only raise funds for our school, but also for Action for Conservation, a charity dedicated to inspiring young people to take action for the natural world.

The cost per calendar is £5.00 and order forms will be coming to you this week – the perfect gift this Christmas! Here is a sneaky peek!!
