Good Morning P2/1. I hope you have had a lovely long weekend.
It is a short week this week so please do not feel you need to do all the activities set. You may want to keep some for another time when you are looking for something to do.
There are new challenges set on Sumdog and here is the link to the P2 grid for our 5th week of home learning – Week 5
Remember you can also explore subjects in Education City and IDL and I am hoping you are still using Teach your Monster to Read.
P1 – You can complete the P1 tasks set by all P1 teachers on different days and you can also complete the ‘Learning Across the Curriculum’ column on the Week 5 grid. This week it covers our new topic, The Farm, a food technology task and a dance activity.

Good morning P1. You are doing a great job of learning at home. Keep up the great efforts! Here are some activities for you to try.
Transient Art
This art task does not need any particular resources. Transient art is art that you don’t need to stick down. Go wild with your imagination and create a picture with loose parts. Use any materials you can find. You may want to go outdoors and use leaves, stones, sticks, pine cones etc or you might stay indoors and use pasta, lids, buttons, cocktail sticks, ribbons or anything you can find. Be creative and let’s see what interesting pictures you can create. Remember to send us a photo so we can be inspired by your work.
P2 – Here is your weekly learning grid. week 4 Remember these are just suggestions for activities.
P1 – Keep an eye on our blog for your daily activities. You can also use P2 learning grid but please only look at the column ‘Across the Curriculum’ as this would be used in class for P1 and P2.
I hope that you are all still finding some time to read and listen to stories. I have been enjoying my book in the garden and in the bath!
Remember you can also download Oxford Owl and enjoy their ebooks. You could create some of your own reading tasks to match the books. Be story detective, design a poster, do a book review, interview a character, role play, make a common word game etc.

Today’s learning is about sources of sound and ways to make sounds. It also includes using our senses and linking hearing/sound together. You can do some of these activities or all of them if you wish. You might want to wait a few days until you collect some recycled materials. E.g. cereal box, yogurt pots etc.
Resources you might need
· Pencils/pens and blank paper
· Junk recycling/glue or tape/straws/rice/lentils
· Open window/garden/short walk
· Appliances around the house that produce “sound”
Questions to explore
· What type of sound can you hear- loud/quiet/soft?
· What type of sound does your instrument make? How can you make it louder? How can you make it quiet?
· What sounds can you hear around you? What helps you to hear?
· Apart from sound/hearing, what other senses do you have?
Information you might want to record
· Open a window or go into the garden. Close your eyes and listen…what can you hear? Draw what you think is making the sounds around you.
· Make an instrument that makes a loud sound/Make an instrument that makes a quiet sound…how can you make it now quieter or louder? What do you need to do? Make a video of you playing along to your favourite song with your instruments…tell us if it is your loud or quiet instrument before you start to play it.
· Go on a senses walk around the house/back garden/ on your short walk….what can you hear/see/smell/feel?…can you taste anything? Draw around your hand and on each finger write hear, see, smell, feel, taste (five fingers, five senses) and draw on each finger what you heard/saw etc on your senses walk.

Good morning P2/1. I hope you have enjoyed a break and are ready to try a little more learning from home. I am missing you all and have been wondering how you are all doing.
Home Learning Grid 3 has been attached for P2 children in our class. P1 children should still be working on the activities listed on the grids issued in your home learning folders. (Reading, Writing, Numeracy and Maths). P1 children can also complete the yellow column on the P2 grid as this covers our whole class topics.

UNICEF are publishing an article alongside some activities every week which explore children’s Rights. This week the article is all about ensuring children have the right to the best possible health. Article-of-the-Week_Article-24_FINAL_160420

Calling all Simpson Primary children…. Thanks to one of our P2 girls we have instructions for a science experiment – How to Make a Lava Lamp. Have a go and post your pictures here for us all to see.

Use your imagination to make a model last supper. Build it with lego or use an old box as the table. Make Jesus and the disciples from paper or play dough.
Design and draw your own Easter bonnet and if you have the materials, you could make it to wear. The easiest way to make a hat is to staple, glue or stick a strip of paper to fit your head and then add your pictures to it. Everyone in your home could join in and you could have an Easter parade.
We can’t wait to see how creative you will be with your ideas. Good luck!

Your Religious and Moral Education activity this week (or over the holidays) is to look at the Easter story.
Discuss with your talk partner (your adult) about what you think Easter is.

Can you retell some of the story in your own words?
Select an activity to complete.
Make a miniature garden showing the three crosses, the tomb and the stone that was rolled away. (You will need; a container, sticks, a stone, soil and some leaves or grass)

Look at some of the symbols associated with Easter, such as Easter bonnets, bunnies, eggs, chicks, candles and crosses. See if you can find and count each one here – Easter Symbols

Join Mrs Davies and her own kids today and make your own cafe. Make a name for your cafe, write a menu detailing what foods are on offer and how much they will cost. We have decided that lunch will be toast and banana today and my mini chefs will be preparing and serving. Can’t wait to see if anyone joins us. I would love to see how creative you can be.
