Fun Time Friday Take 2!

Today we had our second Fun Time Friday of the school year. Fun Time Friday is an opportunity for all our children to select an activity that they are interested in and take part in it with peers across different classes. We had a range of activities to choose from which the children brainstormed at Pumphie Pals last session.

Profiling @ PUSCPS

This session we are looking at improving our approaches to profiling. At our recent inservice day staff looked at our current approaches to profiling and some changes we would like to trial following some professional reading.

Please see below an overview of profiling in our school. We will be asking you for your feedback on some of our current and new ideas over the school session.

Parent Partner: Halloween Parties

This year we had a Halloween Party with a difference! Our Parent Partners had organised a range of exciting activities and games for us to play.  There was lots of positive feedback about the different activities on offer.

Thank you to the house and vice captains for helping out at the younger party and to the staff who came along to support the event, and have a dance with their children!

A big thank you to our parent partners for coming with up a very original Halloween Party, for preparing all the fun activities and attending on the evening.

Primary 3 Fractions Challenge

Miss McLaughlin has set Primary 3 a Sumdog Fractions challenge for homework this week. It will begin at 9.00am tomorrow and end at 12.25pm Friday afternoon.

Log into your account as normal and look on the left hand side for a button that says ‘Fractions Challenge’ (it should be light blue).  This will automatically set your questions to be fraction-themed.

If you cannot get on at home, don’t worry! There will be time in class for children to access the challenge too. Completing the challenge earns you a total of 300 coins! Good luck :)!

Pumphie Pals: Digital Learning

Today at Pumphie Pals we discussed four different questions:

  • What is technology?
  • How do we use technology at school?
  • How do we use technology at home?
  • What other ways could we use technology to help us learn?

Our Digital Directors will use this information to help their Junior Leadership Team.

Primary 3 Assembly

Just a wee reminder that the Primary 3 Assembly will take place on Friday 9th November at 9.15am. Children will need to make sure they are wearing a plain white t-shirt or school top on the day.

We look forward to seeing you there and sharing our learning with you!

Dress Down Day: 26/10/18

A reminder that this Friday 26th October is Dress Down Day.  Children can dress down wearing casual clothes, appropriate for school.  We would request that if your child decides to take part in this fund raiser that they do make a donation. Your donation is in aid of school funds.

Recent Fundraising

Thank you to everyone has recently donated to our recent fundraising attempts for school funds.

  • Our September dress down day raised £75.
  • The nearly new uniform sale raised £45.
  • The Halloween raffle raised £14.
  • The Scholastic Book Fair has enabled us to raise £400 to spend in our class libraries.

Thank you to our Parent Partner Group for supporting us with our fundraising attempts.

Harvest Assembly

This morning we had our annual harvest assembly.  We were joined by our special guest, Mr Povey, who told us a story about the true meaning of harvest time.

P5 were excellent, telling the whole school and our parents/carers all about when and why we celebrate at this time.  Club Wild also presented and shared their learning with us and had lots of fresh vegetables to sell.

A huge thank you to all of our pupils, parents and carers for donating so generously to our West Lothian Food Bank collection.  We hope to continue supporting this very worthy charity throughout the year.
