Sports Day

Sports day will take place on Tuesday 21st May at 1:30pm, on the playing fields beside the school. Sports Day will include potted sports and traditional races. Children can come to school on Thursday dressed ready for Sports Day, please ensure no football colours are worn. We would also request that all children remember to bring their water bottle to school on that day so they can take it to the field with them. To join in with their team spirit we would request if possible children wear a top in their Pumphie Pals colour:

  • Almond – Green
  • Breich – Red
  • Calder – Blue

There will be an area on the field designated for families to spectate the events and we would request that parents/ carers please stay in this area. Dogs are not permitted at Sports Day. Please note, due to health and safety, there will be no access to the school for spectators. Due to photograph restrictions, we ask that you only take photographs of your own child/ children and ensure that no photos or videos of other children are taken, or posted on social media.

At the end of Sports Day, can we please request that all parents/ carers stay on the field until all the children have safely returned to the school building. Then we will open the playground and parents/ carers can collect their child from outside their classroom door.

Should we have to cancel due to the weather, we will Groupcall you by 11.00am on that day.

Transition from Nursery to Primary 1 for new children

Welcome to Pumpherston & Uphall Station Primary School, we look forward to welcoming you and your child to our PUSCPS family. This term we have organised events to ensure a smooth transition into Primary 1, the details of which are below.

Learning together:

We would like to welcome your child along to meet their primary 1 peers and join in with some learning in the Primary classroom and playground. These sessions give your child the opportunity to experience what learning in Primary 1 will look like, meet other children and staff in the school. Please drop your child off at the office at the dates and times below and your child’s Primary 6 buddy will meet them and take them along to the classroom/ playground.

  • Thursday 23rd May at 1:10pm – 1:45pm
  • Thursday 30th  May at 1:10pm – 1:45pm
  • Thursday 6th June at 12:45pm-1:45pm (playground and class)
  • Thursday 13th June at 12:45pm-1:45pm (playground and class)

P1 Induction Evening – Meet the Teacher (for parents):

On Tuesday 4th June at 6pm we would like to invite parents/ carers along to find out about what learning and routines are like in P1. You will also receive all your enrolment forms at this time and have a chance to visit the P1 classrooms. If you are unable to attend the induction evening, the PowerPoints will be available on our school blog and you can collect your induction pack and forms from the office.

Meet the Teacher (for pupils) and Dine Together:

On Tuesday 11th June at 11:00-12pm we invite all our pre-school children to meet their new teacher and class. During this time, parents/ carers are invited to stay for tea and coffee and get to know the other P1 parents.

Following this you will have the opportunity to sample a school lunch with your child (from 12:00pm-12:30pm). A lunch order form is included with your letter, please return to school by 4th June with the money required for an adult lunch. You can also hand these forms in on the induction evening.

Transition from Nursery to Primary 1 for existing Children

Welcome to Pumpherston & Uphall Station Primary School. As your child is in our nursery, they will have already taken part in a range of transition activities during their pre-school year. This term we have organised some extra events to ensure a smooth transition into Primary 1, the details of which are below.

Buddy Time

During their pre-school year Primary 6 children have had weekly sessions in the nursery getting to know the nursery children. This process has allowed your child time to get to know the Primary 6 children, and has given the staff an opportunity to allocate an appropriate buddy. Your child will shortly find out who their P6 buddy will be.

Learning together:

Last term your child had the opportunity to visit the P1 classroom for play and learn sessions, this will continue this term. These sessions give your child the opportunity to experience what learning in Primary 1 will look like, meet other children and staff in the school.

Playground Pals

This term your child will have an opportunity to visit the playground at break time or lunch time to experience what they playground is like. The nursery staff have organised this in liaison with school staff allowing the visits to happen during their time at nursery.
