Good morning everybody.
We are so lucky to be able to enjoy this good weather. One of our class emailed me to let me know how he was helping his Mum plant flowers in the garden. That’s a great learning opportunity and I’m sure they both enjoyed themselves.
I know a lot of posts appear on this blog, but if you click on P3 at the top of the screen, it should be easier to find the posts specific to P3. ( Pssst – it’s also worth checking what activities have been posted by 3b teachers and any of the other classes. ). From Monday, your weekly home learning grid will also be posted on our blog.
Our poem today is a new one to me. It was sent by a member of our class who knows a lot about dinosaurs.
Aunty Ruby
Aunty Ruby had a dinosaur
She took it everywhere
She taught it how to knit and sew
And wash her underwear
She used to ride upon its nose
A great mistake I think
‘Cos it sneezed her into outer space
And now Aunty is extinct.
Just one activity today – please email me and share your learning or news. Or both.
Have a great weekend.
Ms Occardi
Just for fun. Katie Morag wishes lockdown would end.
Hello everyone! Did you find the connection between today and a dragon story? If you were at school in England you would probably know this because St George is the special saint of England just like St Andrew is our special saint here in Scotland. Another name for this is the patron saint. I wonder if you can find out any other patron saints?
Below is a link to a short video all about St George and the dragon which I think you might enjoy.

And here is the link to today’s story time from home which is all about dragons. I hope that you enjoy this too and have started to think about what you could write for your own dragon stories.

Below is a photograph of some planet Earth crafts that some boys made at the hub school in Bathgate with me yesterday. Don’t they look great?
The words at the bottom say reduce, reuse and recycle.
Thank you again for all your photos and messages. I will share some of these on Twitter at the end of the week but please remember grown ups I can’t post any photographs with faces or names.

Good morning everybody.
Firstly, a big thank you to everybody who sent me an email yesterday. It was great to be back in touch with the children in 3a. Please keep emailing me. I’d be quite happy to hear from you all everyday.
Today is St George’s Day. Perhaps you could research the story of St George or create a dragon picture to send to me.
Our favourite poem for today is ” Please Mrs Butler” by Allan Ahlberg. I’ll try to attach a link – otherwise you can search for it online. I’m sure you’ll enjoy performing it for your family.
Just for fun – I think a lot of you enjoyed the video of Katie Morag yesterday. For today’s video, which breed of dog do you think eats faster- a labrador or a border collie? There was a video on the internet recently of two dogs eating their dinner and their owner was giving a running commentary. I thought I could do the same, but there just wasn’t time. One of my dogs is a very fast eater!

Earth Day has been celebrated every year on the 22nd of April for the last 50 years. This is a day we learn about ways to protect the environment. Taking care of the Earth is really important!
You can watch this video to learn more interesting facts.

Here are some fun activities and crafts you could complete throughout the week. Please remember these are optional.

Good morning everyone!
I hope you had a lovely Easter break. I have been missing you all and thinking about you all the time.
What have you been doing over the last two weeks? The weather has been beautiful! I have been very busy painting my fence, playing in the garden and going on lots of walks near my house.
I have seen many signs that spring is here when I have been out, including this lamb that had just been born!
I went back to visit them, they are now 4 weeks old! They have grown so much!
I love spring it is my favourite season. I would love to hear about signs of spring you have seen in your garden or when you have been out a walk, you could even send me some photos!
On a Wednesday we usually do writing in P3B. I have missed reading your writing and I know many of you really enjoy it! You could do some spring free writing and send me your stories. Below I have attached some spring pictures to give you ideas and get you started.
Have a great day!
Miss Ross
Good morning everybody.
I hope you had a good holiday. During the holidays I spent some time painting window frames and a lot of time eating Easter eggs. You know I’m not very good working with the computer, but I hope I’ve managed to upload a picture of my hard work.
I’ve missed you all, especially our morning check in and reading stories and poems. Let me know what your favourite poems are and I’ll put them on the blog for you to share with your families.
I hope you are working hard with your home learning grids. I would love if you would send me a short email letting me know how you’re getting on.
Just for fun I’m uploading a video of Katie Morag. She likes to play with two balls in the evening and uses one of them to give herself a back massage. Hetzer and I just watch her. If you look carefully you’ll spot Hetzer’s legs. He’s lying at my feet.
I’ll be posting again tomorrow morning and look forward to your emails.
Ms Occardi
PS – I’ve just noticed the window is upside down, but we learn by our mistakes in P3a.

Here is today’s Story Time from Home link. I have chosen this story not just because it’s about dragons but because today is Earth Day and the story is about caring, sharing and working together.
https://vimeo.com/410326790/42f973820b
Below is also a short powerpoint explaining a little bit about Earth Day and a little activity you might want to do about looking after the planet Earth.

Even if you can’t print the activity off, I am sure you could make your own version and maybe you could even send me a photograph if you are able to.

Today I am working at one of the hub schools in Bathgate so I won’t be able to reply to any emails or messages immediately – please be patient though and I will get back to you when I can !

Good morning, Boys and Girls!
I hope you are all well, happy and smiling on this sunny Tuesday!
Have you drawn or painted a rainbow? I thought you might like to see the rainbows my son and I drew to display in our window. I think this is a wonderful way for children across the country to “spread hope” and brighten up everyone`s day!
Hi everyone from Mrs McWhirter. I hope you all had a lovely Easter break and enjoyed the sunshine! I am missing seeing and hearing you all but I hope we can have some musical fun and learning here!
I hope you enjoy this song all about the lovely flowers coming out just now and many more images of the wonderful world! I think some of you will already know this song and can sing along.
My favourite part is the Boom de anna bit which is repeated many times and you could clap along to that part or tap your knees or find something safe in your house to use as a drum. A cardboard box can make a great sound and wooden spoons can be tapped together a bit like our claves! Please always ask before you try to make sure it’s safe!
Another thing you could try is writing your own verse about what you like. I would love to read some of your ideas here so please get song writing! Here’s my verse, try and sing it!
I like the Springtime, I like the blossom trees
I like the garden , I like the bumble bees
I like the sunlight shining down on me
Boom de anna boom de anna boom de anna boom de anna
Good luck!
Hello everyone
Wow! What a lot of messages yesterday! I am so glad to hear that everyone is geting on well and having a go at all the home learning tasks. The photos that you have been sending are fantastic and it is lovely that I can now see some of your lovely smiley faces again!
Here is the link to today’s dragon story and underneath it is a link to a youtube video about how to draw a dragon that you might want to try. We have used some of these videos in the classroom for drawing thistles and a Scottie dog. Remember it is a good idea to keep pausing the video as you draw.
It is a lovely sunny day here in Bathgate and hopefully it will be in Linlithgow too, so maybe you’d rather get outside and keep the dragon drawing for another day!

Good morning 3A!
What fun activities do you have planned for today? Share your ideas here or your parents can email me any work you’ve already completed. Looking forward to hearing from you all!
Mrs Bell 🙂
Good morning, Boys and Girls.
Welcome back to a new term. I am really missing you all.
I hope you have all had a lovely Easter break. Maybe you have been enjoying the sunshine or playing in the garden? I would love to know what you have been doing!
I have had a lovely Easter. I have been in my garden and have even been bouncing on the trampoline with my little boy! I have also been doing fitness programmes and dancing to keep healthy. I have been speaking with my family and friends on the phone. I also take shopping to my Mum and Dad because they cannot leave the house.
I hope you will send me some of your news or show me some of the things you have been doing too!
Take care and keep smiling!
Mrs Webster
