Good afternoon P1! Tuesday 2nd June 2020

Bonjour!

Today I thought it might be nice to introduce you to some new French words. These are words for things you might see in a school so they will be helpful when we are all back together again.

We are going to use a website to help us say the words properly and to practise them with some games!

1. Go to www.linguascope.com and log in using the details emailed out. If you are unsure of the details, please email your teacher and they can send them out again!

2. Click on the French flag in the beginner’s section.

3. Click on the tab titled “La Vie Au Quotidien” and then click on the icon titled “Dans La Classe”

4. First click on the “Presentation” section – click on each picture and listen to the French word. Try to repeat the words in your best accent!

5. The “Ecoute” section is a nice way to practise the new words. Click on the different ears to listen to one of the words. When you know what the word means, drag the ear to the right picture.

6. The “Jeu De Memoire” game is a bit like the game Pairs. Click on two pictures (don’t worry about reading the French words, just listen to the voice) and if they match you get a pair. If not, try again!

Remember that in P1, we focus on Listening and Speaking skills in French, not on Reading or Writing. Some of the other games are super but might be too tricky in terms of reading.

I hope you enjoy learning some new words in French. Here is a very silly little song that we enjoy listening to in class sometimes to practise our colours and have some fun!

Good luck with your French!

Take care,

Your P1 Teachers

Good morning Primary 1 and P2/1,  how are you feeling today?

Today we are going to be thinking about keeping healthy! I know lots of you will be enjoying doing exercise every day. I have been cycling a lot and going for long walks. Here is a  Fischy song you may remember to get you moving and to think about how you are feeling inside too.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlWfgU4wTWY

We also have to choose healthy food to eat and the next song is full of lovely vegetables which are so good for you! I wonder which one in the song is your favourite?  Mine is the tomato!

Find an old piece of paper and get ready to crunch it up when the munch and crunch and scrunch sounds comes. When the popping sound comes make a pop with your lips! Make a lovely mmmmmmmm sound for the yummy bit!

You could make up your own verse about your favourite vegetable or fruit, let me know what you would choose to munch today!

Good Morning Primary 1- 2.6.2020

I love the story of the Snow Queen.  It tells a story of a little girl who missed her friend as she had not seen him for a long time.

There are different ways to listen to stories. Below is a link to a podcast. You have to listen and use your imagination.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/radio/the-snow-queen

Now here is a bit of the story. This doesn’t tell the whole story but does show you how to get an app that is full of bedtime stories. Families at home may find this useful.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/watch/storytime-the-snow-queen

Lastly, here is a show all about the Snow Queen. This is a different way to see and listen to a story.

https://www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies/shows/cbeebies-the-snow-queen

Once you have enjoyed all these I would like you to think about all the friends from your class that I am sure you are missing at the moment. Maybe you could make a rainbow picture with all their names on and drop it off at school. Not only will this make our school colourful but your friends will see that you are thinking of them. If you can’t manage this draw a picture and send it to your teacher, through e-mail, and we can pass it onto them. We are all missing our friends but just like Gerda, we will see them again soon.

Have a lovely day in the sunshine and stay safe Primary 1.

Good Afternoon Primary one, 1st June 2020

Good afternoon. I hope you all had a lovely weekend and are enjoying this lovely weather. I can’t believe it is June already.

I know that you all like to eat healthy meals so I thought that maybe this week you could set yourself a challenge.Phytonutrients: Paint your plate with the colors of the rainbow ...

Can you eat a Rainbow?

Can you try a new vegetable for lunch or dinner              OR

Can you eat 3 different colours of vegetables with your lunch or dinner?

Ohio blogger reveals why you should eat a rainbow diet of ...

You could keep a diary or a colour a rainbow in with all the different foods you eat.

Here is a little rainbow food song.

This week we are looking at a new fairytale. This all about The Snow Queen.

What do you think it would be like to be in charge? Do you think you would be a good King or Queen?

Would you make people wear a uniform or allow everyone to eat chocolate with every meal or have to bow every time they saw you?

Why don’t you think of some rules you would put in place if you were a King or Queen.  You could make a poster to show your royal subjects.

Why don’t you design and make your own crown.

I made one by cutting out shapes. How will you make yours? What shape will it be?

Have a lovely afternoon.

Happy Friday Primary 1, 29th May 2020

Good morning Primary one. How beautiful is this weather! I hope you have managed to get out and enjoy some of it. I went for a nice walk this morning and enjoyed listening to the birds chirping in the sunshine. We have also enjoyed taking our books out to read in the sun.

When it is sunny I love to put music on and have a dance in the garden. I love this song, it always puts a smile on my face. Do you have a favourite sunny day song?

Have a lovely weekend. Stay safe, especially in the hot sun.

Take care. Mrs Chisholm

Good morning P1! Friday 29th May 2020

Hello everyone,

I hope you are really enjoying this fabulous weather. Isn’t it beautiful to feel the sun on your neck when you are outside? Remember your suncream and sun hats to stay safe in the sunshine!

As you will no doubt be spending lots of time outdoors this weekend, I have found some fun art activities you could try if you think they look fun. You might have some other great outdoor art activities that you could share in the comments.

Outdoor Art:

You could make silly faces using natural materials and/or painted rocks, you could make your own brushes out of natural materials to do some painting, you could paint rocks and play noughts and crosses, you could paint rocks and make a fun version of dominos, or you could collect beautiful things from outdoors and make a design with them!

I hope you all have a super weekend,

Take care,

Mrs Jamieson

Happy Friday Primary 1! 29.05.2020

Another lovely weekend ahead with lots of sunshine. I am going to visit my mum and dad tomorrow. Although I have spoken to them on the phone I haven’t seen them for a few weeks so I am very excited.

I thought the poem below was really good. Whether you are seeing your family or not they are still very special to you.

Have a lovely weekend Primary 1 and stay safe.

Good afternoon P1! Thursday 28th May 2020

Good afternoon everyone!

I hope you are all having a nice week. I have been doing some packing in my flat each evening because my husband and I get the keys to our new house very soon and will have to move everything across – you might think that doesn’t sound like fun, but I have been finding all sorts of things I had forgotten about, like my high school year books and these old photos!!!

The first photo is our horse Jack who we had when I was very little and then there is my grandma and me in Shetland!

This week, we are practising the digraphs /th/ and /wh/ – BBC Bitesize has some great activities to help you practise your sounds at home. Visit the link https://www.bbc.co.uk/bitesize/topics/zvq9bdm/articles/zk6f6v4 for /th/ activities. Alphablocks has a nice short video about the sound /wh/ that you can find here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPMDT-sL6l0.

We hope you are having lots of nice outdoors time in the sun this week – it has been so lovely and warm!

Take care,

Your P1 Teachers 😀

Good Morning Primary 1, 28th May 2020

I hope you had a lovely afternoon yesterday and enjoyed some of the sunshine. It got very hot. My boys and I had a water fight to cool down, which was lots of fun. We also made some delicious smoothies to keep hydrated. It is very important when it is hot or when you do exercise that you keep drinking lots of liquids.

Have any of you still been doing PE with Joe Wicks? Every morning he goes live at 9am to do a PE lesson with boys, girls and adults across the country and the world! Why don’t you have a look tomorrow if you don’t already have it planned to do. You don’t have to do it live with him, you can do it later in the day if it is easier. Remember grown ups you can join in too!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f1JNIJi9X9w

Staying on the subject of PE, here are some challenge cards for you to try. Maybe you could make your own fitness challenges up and send it to your friend to try, or even to us teachers.

This week our story is The Gingerbread man.

Here is a game you can play to draw a Gingerbread man.

Roll a gingerbread man

Or challenge yourself. How many words can you make from the word Gingerbread?

Gingerbread words

Please remember you don’t need to print either of the sheets out.

Thank you for sending in  pictures of you work and emails telling us what you have been up to. Please keep in touch.

Have a lovely day. Stay safe.
