Good Morning, P2A Wednesday, 29th April

Good morning, everyone.  I hope you are well and had a wonderful day yesterday.  My day begins by reading emails and I always enjoy finding out about the activities you have been doing with your families.  Yesterday, I read an email telling me all about someone in our class helping their family by counting all the cows and their calves every morning – super outdoor numeracy activity.  I enjoyed reading about another pupil who used chalk to practise writing phonics on the garden path.  I also know that many of you have been helping to make lunch and dinner at home, fantastic skills.

One pupil in our class also made lunch and dinner for the birds in their garden – bird feeders.  This is a super activity to do at home and you can enjoy watching the birds in your garden.  I really enjoy sitting quietly and spotting all the different birds.  It’s quite exciting watching them flying to the bird feeders.  This is an activity you could possibly do, too.

I hope you like my photographs.  I took them last June in my mum’s garden.  It was very exciting watching the mummy feed her chick.

Here is a link to the RSPB website where there are lots of ideas:

Let me know if you see any birds.

Have a great day!

Primary 2A Tuesday 28th, April

Good morning, everyone!  I hope you are well and ready for another lovely day.  Did any of you look at the link to National Gardening Week?  They give you ideas for each day.  Today’s idea is about which plants attract pollinators so that will be one of my tasks today!

#designyoursuperbear

Do you know about a competition to design a super bear?  I found out about this last night and thought some of you boys and girls would like to take part.  I would love to but this is a competition for children!  This is the invitation from John Lewis:

Children of Britain invited to share their designs to create a “super-bear”’ cuddly toy using #DesignYourSuperBear to be sold at Christmas – with 100% of the profits going to the NHS

Here is the link and more information if you would like to take part.  You could still design a super-bear even if it’s not for the competition.

I would love to see your Super-Bear designs.  Have fun designing!

Have a great day.

Good Morning, P2A Monday 27th April

Good morning, everyone!  What a wonderful Monday morning it is. The sun is shining and the sky is blue.  It’s a wonderful day for some outdoor learning activities.

I hope you all had a super weekend and were outside enjoying the sunshine.  I have to thank all of you for sending me lovely emails about all the wonderful activities you have been doing with your families.  It is so nice to see and hear all the different things you have been doing.  One boy in our class helped the Scouts ‘Hike to the Moon’.  He measured out a circuit in the garden and worked out how many laps he would need to do to walk a mile – 68!  He did that and then bounced to the moon on his trampoline, brilliant.  Some other boys and girls have been planting lots of seeds and one boy in our class made a mini greenhouse for all his seedlings and plants.  I have asked Mr Herbison to make one for me!  Some girls have been painting outdoors and one girl used so many different skills to design and create an amazing house, with a door that locks, for her robot dog!  Keep sending me your emails of what you been doing.

I had a lovely weekend with my family.  We went a walk along the river on Saturday afternoon.  It was nice to see families out walking together but we all kept our distance from each other.  I enjoyed yesterday in my garden.  I was planting some seeds and planted up a couple of hanging baskets, too.  I was looking at my apple trees and noticed bees buzzing around.  My son managed to take a couple of photographs of the bee on the apple blossom.

This week is National Gardening Week 2020.  There are so many different ways you can get involved in gardening, even if it’s just in a little box.  You don’t have to have a garden to grow something.  You can have a look at this link for ideas.

Have a great day, everyone.

Good Morning, P2A Friday, 24th April

Happy Friday, everyone!  I hope you have had a great week and managed to get outside lots and enjoy our wonderful weather.  I have really enjoyed reading all your lovely emails and seeing all the super things you have all being learning with your families.  I have seen photos of some super baking, measuring, building models and lots of you having fun.

I had a busy day yesterday but I did manage to spend some time in my garden and enjoy the sunshine.  My little cherry tree is full of beautiful white blossom and my little apple trees are beginning to show some pink blossom.  I love to look at them every morning and see the changes taking place.  Have you noticed any changes to some trees near you?  You could let me know by clicking on the comment box above.

Ramadan began when the sun went down last night.  Here is a short PowerPoint about Ramadan.  This is something you can look at and learn together with your family.

Good Morning, P2A Thursday 23rd April

Good morning, everyone!  I hope you had a fun day yesterday and got out in the sunshine.  I had fun reading some emails from boys and girls in our class.  I love to see your photos of all the learning activities you are doing with your families so please keep sending them to me and keep in touch!

My daughter and I baked a carrot and banana loaf last night.  We had to follow all the instructions in the recipe and use scales to weigh out all the ingredients.  Have any of you been baking at home?  It would be good to see photos of your baking.

Today is St George’s Day.  St George’s Day is celebrated in England on 23rd April.  He is the patron saint of England.  St George rescued a princess by slaying a fearsome fire-breathing dragon.  I hope you have enjoyed watching Miss McDermott’s stories about dragons this week.  Here is a link to a short video about St George –

Have fun learning and have a great day!

Good Morning P2A Tuesday 21st April

Good morning everyone.  I hope you are all fit and healthy and had a good day yesterday in the sunshine.   It was a lovely day for being outside in the garden or for going a family walk.  When I was out walking with Mr Herbison we saw a beautiful butterfly.  Have you seen any when you have been outside?

Today is a special day for someone  –  it is Queen Elizabeth II’s birthday!  Do you know what age she is and can you work out which year she was born?

Here is a link to a short video  about  the Queen:
