P2 Learning Reflection for W/E 22.11.19

Our phonics focus this week has been ‘ew’ and ‘ire’. So far the children have discovered eight different spellings for the ‘ew’ sound! In numeracy P2 have been partitioning a 2 digit number into tens and ones. To help celebrate Scottish Book Week the children have  enjoyed sharing their favourite books. On Thursday we tuned into #AuthorsLive to hear The Gruffalo being read aloud in Scots, we thought it was braw! If you want to watch it again or hear any of the other stories you can access them at: https://www.scottishbooktrust.com/learning-and-resources/authors-live. P2 were delighted to receive their Read Write Count book bags today. Happy reading everyone!

My favourite book is…

Charley – ‘The King Cat’ is my favourite book because cats are my favourite animals!

Austin – ‘Steve, Terror of the Sea’ is a good book because every page is funny!

Sushanth – I like the shark story because every page is funny and the giant shark is so huge.

Poppy – ‘Wonky Donkey’ is my favourite story because it is very funny and silly. It’s a rhyming book the words rhyme.

Nicholas – I like ‘Hare and Tortoise’. The rabbit runs then falls asleep and the turtle wins the race.

Lois – ‘The King Cat’ from our Read Write Count bag is good. It really funny because the cat decides its too peaceful when the dog goes away.

Leighton – My favourite book is ‘Spook and Skull.’ They go into a house and there is a person that sees the ghost and skeleton he jumps up and bangs himself on the wall.

Ziva – My favourite book is ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ It is funny when he eats all day, it feels like I want to eat as well!

James – I like ‘The King Cat’. The dog came and the cat is upset because that’s his house and he thinks he is the king of the house. The dog and cat become friends at the end of the story.

Euan – I like ‘Station Mouse’ because the mouse got up to mischief and went around the station.

Subhan – I like the ‘Ninjabread Man.’ When he comes out the oven he jumps out and runs out the door. I read it all the time.

Lewis – I like ‘The Snail and the Whale’. The snail and the whale are friends and they swim around the world. The other snails get to swim on his back and they take turns!

Rory – ‘Steve, Terror of the Seas’ is my favourite book. It’s really funny because everyone runs away from the small fish but we find out it’s really the shark everyone is scared of!

Emma – I like ‘Steve, Terror of the Seas.’ It’s funny it says he is scary but the truth is it’s a shark everyone is scared of.

Coben –’Steve, Terror of the Seas’ is good.  It’s because there are scary parts and there is also a scary fish!

Isaac – ‘Steve, Terror of the Seas’ is funny. Steve is a funny fish because he thinks he is the scariest fish but it’s really George the shark that everyone is scared of. They go everywhere with each other!

Busy Book Week Scotland

P4 celebrated Book Week Scotland with lots of activities about The Legend of Spud Murphy. We also watched 2 Authors Live programmes – one with Chris Hoy and Joanna Nadin who are the authors of Flying Fergus stories, and the other with David Walliams who as always, made us laugh with his funny stories.

Angus – I liked doing the Spud Murphy things like the Wanted! posters and the speech bubbles.

Lakshya – I liked when Anna, Darcy , Emma F and me were doing the Spud Murphy picture for the class door.

Kayden – I liked the maths today because it was challenging. We were adding thousands in our head.

Freya – I liked the JRSO assembly today when the P7s were talking about crossing the roads.

Jarrad – I liked Futsal because we got to play matches. I am sad because it was our last week.

Finn – I liked the after school football because there were 4 goals set up and we played it like there were 2 leagues so if you won you could go up to Premier League and if you didn’t win you went to the Championship pitch.

Luke N – I liked the after school ocarina club because we are getting on to lots of songs now. It is getting easier to know where my fingers go.

Darcy – I like the choir because I like Santa You’re too Fat and Mary’s Song.

Finally, I hope you have put Friday 6th December at 9:15am into your diary because that is the day of our class assembly. You are all welcome to come and find out a bit about what we have been learning.
