This week in Literacy P2 have been revising the ‘aw’, ‘au’ or ‘or’ sounds. We made words, read words, played snakes and ladders and looked for real and nonsense words. P1 have learned the ‘k’ and ‘u’ sounds and the tricky word said. We played roll and read, practised our letter formation, made kangaroo and koala puppets and umbrellas. In numeracy and maths this week P1 have been exploring pattern. We have looked at colour, shape and picture patterns. We made patterns with the pegs and beads. We also made patterned scarves. P2 have been learning about subtraction. We have made subtraction stories, used the part whole model and written the subtraction facts. We also explored fact families which include addition facts. In RME, we learned about what harvest is and how it is a time to be thankful for the things we have. In Wee Story Big Sound this week we listened to different sounds on the piano and we told the story of the Lion and the mouse by playing instruments such as bells and the guitar. With Miss Whigham we were focusing on our sense of smell. We drew pictures of things we like the smell of and things we don’t like the smell of. On Thursday we had a song practice to practice the songs for our Harvest church service next week. Here are a few of the children’s reflections:
Solomia: “I found it tricky drawing pictures of the things I like the smell of.”
Christian: “I found writing the fact families in numeracy tricky.”
Hiba: “I liked the story with the instruments with Dave.”
Charlotte: “I liked learning about the sounds ‘k’ and ‘u’.”
Connie: “I enjoyed learning everything with Miss Maclachlan.”
Lucas: “I enjoyed learning everything just like Connie.”
Ch: “I enjoyed learning the Harvest songs.”
Alister: “ I liked doing the songs in the hall.”
