This Short Week in P4

We have not been able to take photos this week but we have had an interesting short week.  Mr Keast has continued to explore how to write a letter with children, We have tested our knowledge of fractions and are moving into identifying improper and proper fractions and mixed numbers. We had a fantastic time at the Badminton festival and all the children gave it their best, well done.  We had a treat of a visiting music teacher who introduced the children to some instrument work. And we had a relaxing Friday finishing our poster for the school library, thinking about our learning over the past week and filing some of our loose leaf work in our folders.

This Week in P2

We had great fun during Golden Time this week!

We enjoyed a performance by MK Duo, on Wednesday, when they played their guitars and mandolin for us. We have been continuing to learn to tell the time using o’clock, half past and quarter past…just ‘quarter to’ to conquer now!

We continue to enjoy using Sumdog on the computer to consolidate our numeracy.

We were learning about what kitchens were like in Granny’s day and watched a video from 1966 of a lady baking a cake. We spotted all the differences from then and now.

If any grandparents would like to come in and share what life was like as a child, please contact us through the school office. We would love to hear about games, toys and life in general- any objects or photos you have would also be welcomed!

We are almost finished learning to write the letters of the alphabet in capitals- we are getting really good at it. In literacy, we also learned what a homophone is and had fun playing a game about different homophones- ask us about it.

Have a nice weekend and enjoy any adventures that you get up to with Flat Stanley!

P1a Learning Reflection W/E 22nd February

Hope you had a lovely long weekend. Although it was a short week P1 have worked very hard. In Literacy we have learned the vowel diagraph oo. We brainstormed and made lots of different words with the oo sound on our magnetic boards. We taught ted how to write oo words such as zoo. In numeracy we continued to explore fair sharing by playing a game called make it fair and having a teddy bears picnic. We also learned what a half is by using paper. In P.E on Wednesday we played different games such as traffic lights. It was good to run around. We had our star of the week circle time and our new star of the week is Euan. In music we listened to a lullaby and then had fun finding the beat and keeping it in different ways such as clicking our fingers. On Thursday afternoon we listened to a story about Katie Morag and discovered that she lived on the Isle of Struay which can be found on a map of Scotland as the isle of Coll. Here are a few of the children’s reflections:

Lois: “I found it hard learning the oo sound.”

Isaac: “I enjoyed our number talks.”

Ziva: “I enjoyed sharing out the picnic items fairly to the teddies.”

Sam: “I enjoyed being a class helper and going for the milk.”

Coben: “I found it tricky sharing equally during the teddy bears picnic.”

Ch: “I enjoyed learning about Katie Morag.”

Leighton: “I enjoyed listening to the story and learning about Katie Morag.”
