3.Art

Remember when we were studying tone? Tone is the word used to discuss how dark or light a colour is. Today let’s think about tonal contrast (dark next to light.) We have already looked at a painting by Edward Hopper that demonstrates this. Here is another painting that shows tonal contrast https://www.wikiart.org/en/paul-klee/the-goldfish-1925 . It is called ‘The Goldfish’ by Paul Klee which he painted in 1925.

What do you think of the painting? How does it make you feel?

Good afternoon everyone, great to be in contact with you again. I hope you are well and had a fantastic Easter. You should now be starting  work from your week 3 pack. As an additional task, I would like you to create a story map of your favourite day from the holidays. Below is an example of the Goldilocks story map we created with Mrs Stevenson.

Activity 1-

L.I. to create a story plan

S.C. I can draw pictures to show the events in my day

S.C. I can sequence my daily activities

As you can see it is a numbers of pictures rather than a written story. You could start by drawing a picture of you getting up in the morning, then eating breakfast followed by going on an Easter hunt in the house or garden etc. A little tip, use arrows to show the direction your day is taking. As an extension, you could use your story plan to help you write an account of your day. Remember you can use your jotter.

Activity 2- Addition and Subtraction to 10/20

Below is a link to a fun game which will help you with counting on and back. Have a go at both Find a Number and Count on and Back. You can use 1-10 or challenge yourself to use 1-20. Enjoy!

L.I to count on and back

S.C. I can add a number to another to give a new total

S.C. I can subtract a number from another to give a new total

Enjoy the rest of your day!

Primary One – Friday 3rd April 2020

Good morning everyone. Hope you are all well! It’s the last day of term and as it turns out it’s not quite the way we thought it would be, but it is still great to be able to communicate with you all through the blog. By now you will probably have completed week 2 activities, I hope you have enjoyed sharing them and they have been useful.

I am sure that you have heard or tried Joe Wicks workout, today is dress up workout day. Have a go, send some pictures to the school email would be great to see you working out in your favourite dress up costumes. http://deansprimary.westlothian.org.uk

Easter is almost here I have downloaded an outline of an egg. Can you copy it and decorate it (use jotters) can you create a repeating pattern? Can you use shape and colour? Again take some pictures and send them to the school email.

I have also copied an Easter addition worksheet for you to complete in your jotters.

Below is a link to help you to make Easter baskets. Enjoy!

I hope you all have a fantastic Easter, enjoy this time with your family and don’t eat too many eggs at once!  I will post more activities after the Easter Holidays. Stay safe!

Wish jars or boxes

How about making a jar or box, where everyone in your household  can put their wishes, for what they would love to do when we can be out and about again !

My wishes are – go for a walk on the beach, visit my friend for a cuppa, get a Krispy Kreme donut ……

Follow the instructions of how to decorate a jar or just get a box (a tissue box maybe)  and decorate that instead. They only rule is you can’t read them until you can make them come true!!!
