Primary One – Friday 5th June 2020
Good Morning Everyone! Happy Friday!
I hope you all had a great day yesterday and managed to complete some of the activities I posted. Some new tasks for you to try. Enjoy!
Activity 1 – New Sound
L.I. to understand that a letter shape is a “picture” of the sound I hear
S.C. I can say the sound to match the letter shape
S.C. I can blend this sound with other sounds to read words
S.C. I can write the y letter
y is loud green sound. Can you practice saying the sound? The slides below will help you form the letter shape. We use a yak to help us. Down one horn, across the eyes, up the other horn and down his face and curve under his nose, this curve will appear under the line when you are writing this letter. Practice writing y in your jotter.

Next please go to your home learning pack and complete Draw something that begins with the letter y and Circle all the y sounds.
Activity 2 – Reading
L.I. to read words and sentences

S.C. I can use the pictures in the text as a clue to help me recognise unfamiliar words
S.C. I can use words that I know in a sentence to help predict what an unfamiliar word could be
I hope you enjoyed reading and sharing Bushcraft. It is a non-fiction book meaning that the content is based on facts and real life. I would like you to go to the Guided Reading Activities in your home learning pack and attempt this task – Can you write a book review? Rate it out of 5 stars. You can download a copy of a book review from the link below or alternatively you can create your own. Important information you must include-

Glasgow Science Center are offering children the opportunity to continue enjoying science from the center, virtually of course! Below is a link which will ask you to download a Treasure Hunters App.

The Science Center have created a game designed to help visitors explore the world around them. Happy World Environment Day!! Today, we are going to explore why it is important to look after the environment around us. Watch the clip and then you could draw the different ways you could help to save the planet. Have fun and I will check in with you all next week.
P3- Friday 5th June
Good morning P3, I hope you are all well. Today is World Environment Day, with the focus on Bio-diversity. What is this and how can we make our environment a better place? Watch the following clip, note down what you have learned and then create a poster on the different ways to make positive changes to the environment.

Please do the work that is most appropriate for you. I set a lot of different activities so that you can choose what is best for your own personal learning.

Now to continue our shape work. We have been looking at 2D shapes (they are the flat shapes) and 3D shapes (they are the solid shapes).
Let’s take a little quiz to see how many shapes we can recall.

Remember when we used to do the BEAM problem solving activities in pairs?

Personal Project (about 35 minutes)
If you have not told me yet what you would like to research please let me know. Use the time up until 12pm (Friendship Time) to continue your research and make notes in your own words, in your jotter. You can use reference books, for example, encyclopedias and atlases, the internet, newspapers and magazines or personal interviews.
