Literacy
Watch Newsround – note down any key things you have found out today to share with someone at home.
Have a check in with everyone at home – ask how everyone is and how they are feeling today. Share how you are and how you are feeling too.
Today we are going to have a look at some ALLITERATION – Alliteration is when words start with the same sound: For example, Sammy the slippery snake came sliding. Alliteration is used in both written and spoken English. You can find examples in poetry, advertising and events commentary. It is often used in newspaper headlines to grab the reader’s attention.
I would like you to have a look around your house, online, or wherever you can to see where you can find examples of alliteration in BOOK TITLES (Stuart Reid uses loads of these in is books, so he might be a good one to research!), NEWSPAPER HEADLINES etc. Make a list of as many you can find. Here’s a couple of examples for you, I know you will have heard of a few of these book titles:
Can you create your own Book Title or Newspaper Headline (maybe connected to what is happening in our lives just now!) using ALLITERATION. Create a Book Cover or Newspaper Cover with your Title and some images.

Numeracy
Let’s start with this – Write the numbers 20 – 50 in words and digits.
We are going to continue to look at Number pairs with two digit numbers to make the next multiple of 10 – eg 52+___ = 60. Try the task attached below:

IDL
As we don’t have long until the end of term, we thought instead of starting a new topic together that you could do a mini project of your own to work on until the Summer holidays. You can pick an animal, a sport, a hobby, a type of car, a singer/group you like – anything like that, to do your own research project on. Start off using the mind map below to record what you know already about your chosen topic, then collect as many facts, information, and pictures as you can. Remember to make your facts interesting and fun! If you can print pictures that would be great, but it would also be amazing to see of your own drawings, models and creations! We can use this to share with each other when we are back to school after the Summer!

We are going to revisit our numbers in French. This task looks at the numbers up to 100.

Health

Drama
Practise your acting skills and using your voice to portray different characters with the script attached below, based around the event in history of The Great Fire of London (links nicely with our IDL topic). Ask your family to get involved taking on some of the roles – have fun!!!!!

- Using a dictionary go on a word hunt and find as many words that end with ial as you can e.g. official. Then write an interesting sentence with each word in it.

P5/6 Tuesday 9th June
Thank you all for the personal projects you have been working on – the ones I have seen are really good. Please continue with these. The ones that you have done: try and up-level them> Use Self Assessment. Use two stars and a wish. To challenge yourself even more create more wishes! You could also extend this into a writing activity where you explain your reasoning. And you could add images to in-corporate art, doing it on the computer will help support your ICT skills: PowerPoint; Word; Publisher; (Paint?). Have fun with it and use your imagination!
Maths: Finish money first and then move onto measure. I think all 4 parts of TJay 2a Chapter 13 (a,b,c and d) are useful. This will help support your work on decimals to 3 places. If you have finished these you could do TJay 2a revision work on decimals: Chapters 5 and 7

Activity 1 – 
New Sound 
L.I. to understand that 3 letters can make 1 sound

For this sound we go back to Inky’s Vowel House. This sound can be found in the middle part of the house at the top, it lives in the oval window. The story behind this sound is that a sailor lives there and shouts “Aye, Aye captain, “igh” (salute towards the eye) I’ll climb up to look out for land!” 
Can your practice saying the sound? It sounds as if you are saying “aye”. Can you use your blending skills to read the words below?

For this activity I would like you to go the section in your home learning pack which is titled Writing Activities and find the sheet that says “What can you see at the beach? Look at the picture and write as many sentences as you can about the picture. Try to make your sentences as interesting as you can!

Remember Number Talks are all about how you solve a task mentally. For this activity, don’t use anything to help you, just your brain!

You could also have a go at the Spring Lines of Symmetry from your learning pack. Something is symmetrical when it is the same on both sides. A shape has symmetry if a central dividing line (a mirror line) can be drawn on it, to show that both sides of the shape are exactly the same.
Activity 5 – Random Acts of Wildness
Today’s challenge 
Research any
wildflowers you see- what are they called, what do they look like? How many wildflowers can you find. A good way to draw or record your daily Random Acts of Wildness and how they made you feel might be on a planner such as the one below. Why not try to make one?

You don’t have to use paper and a pencil, there are lots of different ways you can practise – chalk on the pavement outside, using flowers to spell out the word or even use lego. Can you think of any inventive ways?

I have added another game to our home learning section of Education city called ‘White Whiskers’ , this game will help you practise reading wh words.
