Calderwood Book Hunt

Due to the fantastic reward of £961.22 from our Book Fair in September, Calderwood Primary has been busy shopping for new books! Our Calderwood pupils have been searching for texts they would like to see in their clan libraries and as part of their guided reading groups. We are very excited that we have the opportunity to add to our selection of books at Calderwood!

We would love for our families to get involved in this too! For Primary 1-3, we are expanding our clan libraries and for P4-P7 we are building our reading group texts. Please use the website links below and type a comment with which texts you would like to see your pupil engaging with at school.

Dear parent/ carer,
A gentle reminder that application for Primary 1 and S1 for 2023/24 should have been completed by 31st December. If you have not completed the forms for your child, you can find more information as below. We would encourage you to apply for a place as soon as possible.

Burns Poetry Competition

At Calderwood we currently have a Scottish focus for learning. All clans will participate in a Scottish/Burns Poetry competition in clan. All children will be encouraged to participate in their own way – whether that is filmed, performed to their clan or to their champion on 27th January. The finalists will be put forward to a whole school competition on Friday 3rd February.

Welcome back! 

A warm welcome back to all our nursery families. We hope you all had a restful and fun break during the holidays. We are looking forward to the months and the exciting experiences, learning and play that will come. We will continue to share our journey with you through the Chronicle and Online Learning Journals. 

Photo Day 

Tempest Photography will visit the nursery on Monday 23rd January to take individual and sibling photos of the children. You will receive a copy and order form for these photos after this day. If you would like to purchase the photo, please return the form to nursery. If your child does not attend nursery on a Monday, please choose a slot by clicking here. 

Champion Update 

A warm welcome to Miss Skinner our new area support manager this week. She has visited our nursery on Wednesday and Thursday and enjoyed her visits.  

 

HOME LINKS: 

This week we have loved welcoming back the children with new experiences in our environment. The children have been interested in learning all about birds. We have been making nests and learning all about different birds. 

When you are out and about, try to spot any birds! If you find any take a photo and share with us on Online Learning Journals.

Happy New Year! One week in and it feels like we have never been away from our Calderwood home. It has been lovely to start the new year, with new families joining us. We have had a smooth transition back to Calderwood life and next week, we look forward to all our interventions timetables fully starting, ensuring we support and challenge all of our children.
