After School Clubs

We are delighted to be in a position that we can once again offer after-school clubs for our pupils.  These will be a range of champion led after school clubs and those ran by external organisations.

We will be offering 3 blocks of after school clubs over the next few months:

Block 1 (P1 and P2) – 19th Feb – 26th Mar
Block 2 (P3 and P4) – 15th Apr – 13th May
Block 3 (P5 – P7) – 20th May – 17th June

P1 and P2 Parents will be contacted soon with more information about the clubs on offer and a form to complete if they would like their child to attend.

  • Today we say a fond farewell for now, to Mrs McGarvey. We send lots of luck and well wishes, as she starts her maternity leave and will wait with patience and excitement for her news! She will be greatly missed at Calderwood for the next wee while, by the champs, Ben Clans and our families.
  • Bluebell and Bramble clans had a Calderwood first this week as the visited Edinburgh Playhouse to watch Shrek: The Musical! They clans were fantastic, showing manners and respect during our visit. Thank you to all the champs who made the excursion possible.

Aberdeen Clan: Local Legends

Aberdeen Clan have been learning about the history and recent changes to our local area. We enjoyed sharing our knowledge of East Calder landmarks and places of interest before plotting them on a map. Next, we will be using historical evidence to explore different types of housing in the area and compare the lives of people in the past with our own.

Dundee Clan Assembly

Dundee Clan performed their clan assembly, ‘Save the Rainforest’, today to the whole school and to our families.  Dundee clan have had a fantastic time learning all about the rainforest.  We have explored where rainforests are in the world, why they are so important, what the issues are affecting them and what we can do to support them.  We have loved exploring the rainforest and are sad that it is time to move on to new learning.  Some of the children are going to continue spreading the word and learn more, and have started a club together.  We hope everyone enjoyed our assembly today.  We enjoyed preparing it and performing it for everyone.  I wonder if our song is still stuck in your head!  We can’t stop singing it!
