East Caler Gala Reminders

A few reminders about East Calder Gala Day:
Friday 10th June: East Calder Gala Crowning Ceremony – Choir – Update
Those children in our choir who have filled out a permission form will perform first. The ceremony starts at 6pm at the East Calder Sports Centre, children should be there at 5:45pm. Children should wear school uniform and be collected by a parent/ carer. Miss Burton, Miss Miller and Miss Reid will be there to support the choir.
Saturday 11th June: Gala Walk: 
We have been invited to walk as a nursery and school. The dress theme is ‘Decades’, children and adults are encouraged to dress up. Children will be the responsibility of their families at this event. The walk will leave Almondell Cemetery carpark at 12:45pm.  Miss Miller and some of the champions will be there to walk with our families.

Creative Calderwood – STEM

Today we were delighted to host the Primary Science Development Officers from authorities across Scotland. They were all given a tour of our school building and heard all about the amazing STEM learning which is going on every day at Calderwood Primary School!

Request for items for UPCYCLING CRAFT STALL at C in the Park

The Bens have decided to run an upcycling craft stall for C in the Park and are looking for some items that you may have lying around and no longer use.
The items that we are looking for include:
-Old nail polishes
-Plastic take away tubs
-Used or unwanted art sets with acrylic paints, glass paint, paintbrushes etc
-Unwanted strings of beads, jewelry, used or unwanted jewelry making sets
-White or cream tiles from 95mm x 95mm to 150mmx150mm
-Clear varnish
Any small items can be sent in with your child and brought along the Ben Lawers or dropped off at office, making clear what the items are for.

Meet the Champion – Wednesday 15th June

Please choose from one of the time slots below. Please only select one slot using the ‘yes’ option, as there are a limited number per time. Please do not use the ‘cannot attend’ or ‘if need be’ options.

Each slot will be split into 2 parts:
  • A school tour
and
  • 1 parent/carer and child to visit to the clan room to meet the champion and participate in an activity with your child
Slot 1:
3:30-3:50 – School Tour
3:50-4:10 – Meet the champion
Slot 2:
4:00-4:20 – School Tour

4:20-4:40 – Meet the champion
