As part of our health and wellbeing focus we have explore a number of different topics:

  • mental health and wellbeing
  • anti-bullying and what is bullying
  • positive body image
  • how to develop and support positive relationships
  • what to do and where to go if uncomfortable feelings get too much to cope with

We have responded to these prompts in our own ways and a selection of these responses are included below.

P6 Cross Country Race

Thistle and Schiehallion clans had a fantastic morning out at the West Calder Cross Country Event at Polbeth United pitches.  They supported each other wonderfully and all children completed the race. To top off a brilliant morning, Calderwood Primary Boys were the winning team, coming first in the overall team event!  The top 4 boys will have the opportunity to take part in a further Cross Country event when they are in Primary 7.  Well done to all!

WLC Play Area Survey

WLC are looking to expand their play area survey reach this year, please see link here : https://app.surveyhero.com/s/3b41ace

Please complete with your child and discuss what they think about their local spaces.

The surveys really help WLC to understand general satisfaction with the spaces. WLC try their best to take comments onboard where they can so it would be great to have as many families complete the survey as possible.

Calderwood Companions Plea

Mrs Bates and a Parent Council Group are looking at how community volunteers could support our clans. Examples might include, supporting excursions, art activities, running a lunchtime interest club, supporting a clan in the STEM Studio with cooking, P.E outdoors or outdoor learning, etc.

We now have some clans who are interested in trialling this.

If you, a family member or community would be interested in supporting us, please contact the school office for a PVG form, these applications are currently free and last three years.

More information will come soon!

Lego Plea

Dear parents/carers,

As part of our School Improvement Plan, the Health and Wellbeing champs have been looking at creating clan Health and Wellbeing boxes.  We are issuing a plea for donations of unwanted Lego that we will put in to these boxes.  If you have any Lego at home that does not get used, even kits with missing pieces, we would be so grateful if you would hand this in to the office by Wednesday 20th March.

Thank you so much.
