Hi Everyone,
Very busy in p.4. We have just finished a very interesting and successful twelve lessons signing and singing musical notes with Mrs Poynter. She has made each session fun ; teaching us new games to help us learn to keep a steady beat and feel rhythm. We are also busy finding out about sports in the Commonwealth Games. We have looked at lots of them and compared different racquet sports. Our favourites so far are squash and badminton. We have also learnt a special Commonwealth song to sing to all the parents at our assembly on the 30th of May

Dalguise!

Last week Primary 7 had the most exciting week of the whole year when we attended PGL Dalguise. Here is a blow by blow report of the adventures we had. We left here on Monday morning everyone was feeling very excited about the fun things we knew we would get up to when we got there. We put on our seatbelts and before we knew it we had arrived. Waiting for us at the entrance of the camp, waving with a big smiley face was our group leader Emma. Our first obstacle to overcome was pulling our bags and cases up what seemed like a mountain to reach our accommodation, Ordie. We settled in but there was no time to spare because we had our first important activity for the day, LUNCH! After lunch we got into our groups and headed off to our activities. We had so many activities to do over the week that were all so fun, here are some of our favourites: Giant Swing , Catwalk, Raft Building, Canoeing, Trapeze and lots more. As well as our day time activities we had evening events. These included Ambush, Cluedo, Campfire and Splash! We particularly enjoyed Splash, we had to take care of our water babies all day. If it survived our day time activities and a fall from a 30ft drop we could throw the water balloon at Emma. Unfortunately only one survived and Emma didn’t get very wet! Overall our week at Dalguise was amazing and we all really enjoyed ourselves! At the time we didn’t want to leave and would love to go back one day. Here are some of our thoughts about our amazing week: “It was really, really fun and the activities were so good. The staff were amazing!” – Mandy “It was fandabbydozey and my favourite activity was the sensory trail!” – Lisbet “Dalguise was the best experience I have had. My favourite activity was the giant swing” – Jennifer “I had so much fun doing all the activities especially when my groups water baby survived the big drop and we got to throw it at Emma!” – Eilidh “The food was flabbergastingly good. My favourite meal was the fish and chips and apple crumble” – Aadil “It was the best week EVER!!” – Primary 7 2013/2014 “The children were learning while achieving personal goals and having so much fun at the same time which is what it is all about. They created special memories which they will always remember and treasure. I received so much praise about the children from not only PGL staff but from other teachers who were attending the camp with their own classes. The children’s enthusiasm and model behaviour was apparent from the start of the week until the end and I was extremely proud of each and every one of them!! I really enjoyed my week at camp too. A big thank you to Mrs Jones, Ms McMaster, Miss Scales and Mrs Marra for supporting us during our time at camp. Well done primary 7! Keep shining!” – Miss Hood

P3’s Learning Update

Primary 3 have been learning about Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. We are really looking forward to sharing our learning at our Assembly! In Maths we have been learning more about telling the time. We can now use o’clock, half past and quarter past. We used clocks and online games to help us learn about quarter past. In Science we have been learning about Forces. Using magnets, we learned that north and south attract each other (which makes them stick to each other) but that north and north or south and south repel each other (they push away). In Writing we have been practising our joining and learning some new ones. Zoolab cam to visit us yesterday and we loved learning about all the different animals from the Commonwealth countries.

P2/1’s Learning Update

Today we had a visit from Zoolab and we found out all about different animals. We got to hold cockroaches, a snake, a rat, a frog a snail and a tarantula. In ICT we learned that you can send a letter or information by email. We tested how fast it would send by emailling Miss Kelly. It was only 4 minutes before we got a reply! We have been working really hard on our Assembly. We have been using loud, clear voices to be effective contributors. We have learned our parts and which order we are saying them. Our new topic this term is Farms. We shared what we already knew and found out more about what there is on a farm.

The Circus is Coming to Town!

Primary One is pretty excited about becoming members of the Bellsquarry Circus troupe! We assigned roles this week and got stuck into rehearsal straight away! We hope everyone gets as excited as we are and we look forward to performing for the school and the P1 parents.

See you under the big top!

P5

On Wednesday we played hockey with Mrs. Green. This gave us the chance to improve our passing skills. Then on Thursday we used compass directions to help us to create our own maps and write questions for our partners to answer. We had to use our knowledge of the eight compass points to write and answer the questions.
