Primary 3 Update

Primary 3 have been very busy during the last few weeks. We really enjoyed performing our Charlie and the Chocolate Factory assembly for everyone. In maths we have been revising half past and have been learning quarter to and quarter past times. Two weeks ago we took part in the Tesco Bank Football Festival with Primary 3 pupils from other local schools. We learned some new skills and then we played mini matches. We had great fun! In science we found out that when our ear drum hears sound it vibrates.

We are looking forward to our class talks this week. We are going to be telling everyone about our best holiday!

Exciting Days in P1

This week has been very busy. Primary One has been working hard to complete unfinished work in preparation for P2!

On Tuesday, we had a taster session with ‘Destination Judo’. We thought it was great because the leaders were funny!

When the nursery children came for their transition, P1 went to the P7 class to make posters with Miss Hood.

Yesterday was sports day. Some comments are that it was fun, excellent and just great.

We’re all very excited about the ‘Strawberry Fayre’ this afternoon and hope it will be a good time for everyone.

Until next time.

Bellsquarry Breakfast Club (BBC)

This week we have officially launched our ‘Bellsquarry Breakfast Club’ as linked to our rights respecting school initiative. There has been great excitement with activities to be done and displayed and photos to be taken.

Our motto is ‘Eat…Play…Together’ thinking about our rights and working together as a community.

Watch this space as our BBC develops!

We enjoyed presenting our Commonwealth Games Assembly to the parents and school. Everyone took part. We learnt so much about The Glasgow Games: about the sports being played, the history of the games and about the athletes involved. Some people demonstrated different sports and talked about how they were played. The singing of the special Commonwealth Song was very special and we ended our assembly with the message of ” doing our best and reaching our goals” Well done everyone. Tank you parents for supporting us.

Bits and Pieces

Primary One had a wonderful, if cold and wet, day at the Botanic Gardens having ‘Teddy Bears’ Picnic’ last Thursday. We made islands for our teddy bears to live on with all of the elements of SWAF which are: shelter, water, air and food. We hunted for paw prints that gave us clues. It was all great fun. Unfortunately, the school camera ran out of battery and the shop was sold out!

This week we have been getting ready for health week, sports day and the Commonwealth Games by doing races in the hall for our PE.

The pupils enjoyed a fantastic ‘Commonwealth Assembly’ presented by Primary Four and learned that we should never ever give up trying to reach our goals!

The children were also impressed with the new P7 award for Rights Respecting Schools donated by one of our families.

See you next time!

Bonjour from Primary 2/1!

Bonjour!!

We were learning French with Mrs Roy. She taught us some of the colours in French.

This week we were measuring lots of different things. In the classroom we were measuring tables, cupboards, windows, doors and the floor. We measured these things with our hand spans that we made and our feet. We decorated our hand spans in lots of different colours. We coloured them orange, bleu, vert, rose, marron, rouge and jaune. Hand spans are known as non standard units because everybody got a different answer depending on the size of their hands and feet. Then we measure lots more things outside.

Primary P2/1 Update!

This week in Primary 2/1 we have been learning about the Commonwealth Games. We have been focussing on the country Bermuda. We have been learning about the food in Bermuda too! We drew pictures of the Commonwealth Games for our factfiles that we are making. We also went on the laptops and we learned how to search for information about the Commonwealth Games and Bermuda.
