A Hello From Hopetoun

Hello. It is lovely to be back at school and I hope you all had a good summer holiday. There have been lots of changes in Hopetoun, with a brand new staff team and new boys and girls. We will be organising a stay and play event in the near future, to allow you to come in and meet our team. I will be in touch regarding this soon.

This term we are exploring colours and materials through the story book Elmer the Patchwork Elephant. Every day, there are plenty of opportunities to explore a variety of different textured materials representing the colour of the week.

Throughout the year, there will be opportunities to experience horse riding and swimming. I will be in touch to let you know when this will take place. We are also keen to get out to explore our local community environment, visiting the local shop and library. Please can you sign and send back EE2 excursion forms asap to ensure that we are all able to participate.

We will be experiencing outdoor play daily, no matter the weather! Please could you send in appropriate clothing for our ever changing Scottish weather? We will also be exploring lots of sensory experiences through messy play. To ensure pupils are able to experience these activities fully, it would be very useful if each could have their own waterproofs.

If you have anything at all you would like to talk to me about, please feel free to contact me via the school diary or phone me at school.

Thank you,

Paula

Hopetoun term 2

HO HO HO

The countdown for Christmas is on, and we can hardly contain our excitement.

What a busy term!!! Full of exciting activities and experiences both in and out of the school!!

Hopetoun worked very hard on making keyrings, magnets, calendars, reindeer hot chocolate cones and sweet cones. And the result was more than unexpected!!! A big thank you for all your support. We made Pudsey banners with our own little Pudseys and had a fun day for Children in Need. We made posters and leaflets for the OutRight campaign, helping to raise awareness of refugees.  We enjoyed our Halloween, winter & Christmas sensory play. We explored soap foam with snowflakes, gelli buff, squishy snow, and our peppermint snowflake soup and practised our motor skills by scooping up cotton balls. We had a fun time practising our songs (Reindeer Pokey & Jingle bells) and getting prepared for the Christmas event!! We really had a wonderful time visiting Santa’s grotto at Livingston mall, dancing and singing at Christmas party at Edinburgh Airport Hilton Hotel!! Fun, Fun, Fun!!!

Welcome to Hopetoun class

Welcome to Hopetoun!!!

Wow!!! So many changes!!

New faces, new team & a very busy exciting learning year!!!

This year Benjamin, Ethan, Megan and Sean have joined Liam and Brendan. The staff team includes Jacki, Natalie and Michelle and two new school staff members: the class teacher, Eirini, and a new support worker, Lauren. We all get to know each other and settle into routines very well.

This term we are learning about ‘Me and my family’, having fun with lots of different activities (e.g. making finger prints by clay), looking in mirrors and making smiley faces, finding our photos in messy play trays, and making family trees. We have already been very busy making a birthday display!!! We have also been enjoying our time in the soft play room, the hall and the outdoor playground area.

Hopetoun

Hello from Hopetoun.  We’re always busy, so here are some photos to show you some of the things we’ve been up to.

Hopetoun’s activities

Our children really enjoyed science week. We did a different fun experiment every day.

We combined maths and language when we listened to the story and used props for the Three Little Pigs. We think we have very pretty litlle pigs and our big bad wolf doesn’t seem too scary.

Everyone loved making music with our visitors.
