Course Choice – Advice from senior/ex-pupils

Advice from pupils who have already experienced course choice:

 DO’s:

“take a subject/s you are good at – so that you achieve good results”

“choose at least one subject you enjoy, not just subjects you need

“choose a range of subjects in S3/4- you may change your mind about your career/interest in the next few years”

“find out what you need for the course or job you are interested in”

“speak to teachers of the subject – find out about the subject/the units you will study”

 DON’T’s:

“take subjects because your friends are taking them – they might drop it/change.not be in your class”

“take a subject because you like the teacher”

“take too many of the same subjects – you might change your mind”

“take or not take a subject because of things people tell you – eg no homework or its easy to get an A”
