World Book Day 🌎 📖

On Thursday 1st March 2018 we will be celebrating World Book Day in School by encouraging all children to come to school dressed up as their favourite book character!

We will also spend this week completing different book related activities in class and holding whole school DEAR times! We’ve also asked the pupils to find and be photographed in  the strangest place to read a book!

Thank you for all your support!

Pupils visit Cromlix House Hotel.

The 8 Bake Off finalists went to spend some time at Cromlix House Hotel this afternoon.  They were given a tour of the hotel and the garden area.  The children were taught how to properly decorate cup cakes.  A huge thank you to head pastry chef Balazs for teaching the children these new skills.  Also thanks to Darin and Sharon for the garden tour and refreshments!

Here are the children icing their cupcakes and learning new skills by Balazs.

Here are some of the iced cakes produced by the children. A selection of roses and cactus.

We then had a tour of the Cromlix garden with Darin.  We tasted some of the different herbs which are growing and the edible flowers.

The final of The Great Dunblane Bake Off

Friday the 19th of May saw the final of The Great Dunblane Bake Off.  All 8 children were able to independently create the cakes which were delicious and very creative.  Judges came from Cromlix to look and taste the children’s cakes.  They had a very difficult decision to make but they did manage to choose a winner.

Well done to all the children who took part.

Here are the chefs at work –

P4 Ancient Egyptian Homework

Hannah made her pyramid by creating a net from yellow cardboard.

Ben made his pyramid using sand and cardboard. It was hard to stick the sand onto the pyramid.

Iona made her pyramid from Hama beads. She made it in different pieces and sewed it together.

Eve thinks her Egyptian bread is yummy!

Alexander created his masterpiece from Lego. It was very hard to build.

Ryan made his pyramid from wood, yellow paint and sand. It was difficult to make.  Mum and Dad helped.  It was great fun.

This pyramid  was made out of sugar cubes. Mum helped me and it was great fun.

Working Hard

P4 have been learning about the Ancient Egyptians. We have also been learning about how to write a non-chronological report. When we have completed our reports we are going to present them to the other groups.
